Hi people. I have a female hand raised IEO. I decided to feed her up a while back. 2 days ago she laid an egg and as expected she was very aggressive when i went in to clear the egg. From, what I've heard, hand- raised birds don't work out for natural breeding. Since i don't have a male, i had to get rid of the egg as it was obviously infertile.

Is natural breeding a no-no for all kinds of hand- raised BOP or just for particular species?

there is no rule for the birds, it depends on the bird! it has been known to re-imprint a bird back to birds for natural breeding (i think it was a lugger, andrew greenwood wrote about it in 1980) also some species will still breed even though imprinted, the most common to do this is the eeo, i have seen silly tame eeo's still copulate and breed succesfully. again there is no rule, it just depends on the bird you have!

I guess, it is worth trying to set up a breeding program for your IEO mate!

Who knows, you could have babies next time :supz:

Hmm, maybe i can give it a shot. Would need to give it serious thought first...
