i was just watching an article on the glasgow airport bombers and it reminded me of moses( not having a go, it just did). I thought that he hadnt been on for ages so i looked him up on here and didnt have a clue his gos died! Absolutely gutted for him. he was on here asking loads of questions and was so eager. Big shame, but shows to the newbies that with all the good will in the world jumping in with both feet and getting a gos isnt advised.
ANYWAY, does anyone keep in touch with him? How is he doing? i liked his posts and his humour, he was a good lad and hope he comes back to us ( hopefully this time with a HH)!!

Ah!!!! Please forgive me if I misunderstand you...but why a Harris??
I remember every aspect of Moses' contribution to this forum and the saga of the Gos...and the advice he received, and the reason for it's death!!!
So...why a Harris?...are they okay to practice on..do they not die????

FFS, this is the reason people get put off by this forum. You read something , misinterpret it, then pontificate about it.
I said a HH because i doubt he would have killed it, he would have flown it and caught game and enjoyed the experience.
Stop being a prat and get down off your soapbox.

Stop being a prat and get down off your soapbox.

True enough. Any HH owner who thinks a HH is no different from a Gos needs to tell the world exactly how it is they navigate through life with their heads so thoroughly shoved up their arses.
Read my signature, and you'll get the picture. Yes, I fly a FHH and I'm proud of her, but I am also not so full of myself to deny the differences between HHs and Goshawks.
I too hope Moses comes back, with a HH or an RT, both far more robust birds than a Goshawk in novice hands.

I assume that you are talking to me????
Please explain, based on your knowledge and intimate acquantaince with Moses, why you believe 'he would have flown it and caught game and enjoyed the experience'??????
When you convince me, then I will stop 'pontificating'...until that time, I again suggest that you will have to forgive me for thinking that there might be matters more important than him being a nice bloke!!!
And...if you think that people are put off this forum by others attempting to safeguard the lives of the birds in their care...then perhaps they shouldn't be on this forum!!!!

as far as i was aware he was treated like muck , for having the nerve of trying a gos as his first bird , ( he failed and was crucified for it), , and believe it or not MOSES was the only guy from the forum to visit brianm in hospital ,, in my opinion that speaks volumes

Not everyone crucifeid him for it, but my kid would know not to feed washed meat to a bird down at weight, is it any wonder people felt the way that they did.

This is seriously going to split the forum.
I agree it took nerve to post what happened. BUT, he was advised again and again and again and again and again that he didn;t have the knowledge or skill to fly a bird (whatever it was - gos or HH). ALL advice was ignored again and again and again............and the outcome was what was predicted. The strength of anger showed in his slating. He may be the nicest guy on the planet, but he shows what is effetcively going to cause the downfall of falconry - people jumping in the deep end, not being prepared and potentially causing falconry to all into disrepute (maybe not Moses, but someone like him SOONER or later will bring it into disrepute by not listening to good advice)

i just cant understand why people are argueing about this all over again .
there will only be one outcome , the thread will become more heated than it is now and then it will get closed .

Proves my longstanding point again - advice can NEVER be given accurately regards weight/condition over the forum - this can only be given in the flesh.
Agree with Pendleside - this is going to run and run with split thoughts. Been run through already - lock it now
