could some one tell me the length of the tail for a male steppe please as i wish to get (make) a tail sheath aprox from tail mount to tip i would like to get it before i pull from the moult , any info would great :supz:

Just measured an outer tail feather moulted from one of my aviary birds, from the point where it enters the bird (so not including whatever is inside the follicle) the feather measured 27 cm. So that should give you a rough idea, afraid i don't have any idea of this birds weight for comparison. Hope that helps.

What are the pros and cons of the Steppe Eagle. Are they good display birds and does anyone hunt with them?:

i have flown and tried to hunt a female import from alma ata she was good to the fist good to dragged rabbit but not keen to chase the real thing , ive got this bird just as a play thing really and il hold my hands up and say its the eagle experiance again for me , having owned and hunted a female goldie this is the eagle i aspire to own again (one day) im only flying this male but if he wants to hunt fair play but if not then fair play again mate :supz:

how fit is he?
Would he be more inclinded to hunt if very fit and expected himself to be able to catch the quarry?

he is as fat as they come mate at the min , lol my aim is to fly him untill fit then see what happens , you never know till you try ,he may catch but not in the same amounts as goldie or a red but who cares ,:supz:

who cares??? i wouldnt as long as was out everyday poss with a bird like that,
mark who breed this one of yours, same as the one lee riley got off you,

just a quick up date the boy has done his moulting there is just one primary not dropped and about an inch missing of the end :cry: i will be pulling him out anyday so will keep you posted :yawinkle:

STUhe is a good looking lad bless him lol no breeding mate im getting back into my eagles in a big way ive been flying falcons constant for two years now on landfill but thats all done so im getting this lad going and saving hard for a male goldie next season , he is age wise three mate :supz:
