All right Tom.Here is another one.The man on the picture is an active fallconer. He makes his living on hunting foxes in the winter and then sale the fur. They hunt wolves as well but with the help of dogs only

Now that's interesting . . . .
I thought the reason that most of us hold the birds on our left hand (even us lefties) was because of the horses and the need to control them with the right hand.
That and because having your left hand as your main hand was a sign of devilish interference or summat

You may control the horse with a knee, thigh, elbow and foot.So the left hand is enough. While the eagle may be controled with one hand only. And when on the horse you need your stronger and more skillful hand engaged with the eagle. And this is the right hand

hi stefan i was working on the orkney islands a number of years ago and remember a farmer discovered a tomb,i went to see it you could pull yourself inside by lying on a trolly and using a rope to get in, once inside you could see all the corpses, along side each body were skulls and talons of sea eagles
the higher the rank,or leader the more skulls and talons would be along side atb ned.
ps.cant remember but think it was some viking tomb.
