Dr Jeff Watson 1952-2007

Although not a falconer, he was deemed as the worlds leading authority on the golden eagle and was author of the book entitled "The Golden Eagle".

He was latterly director of operations in the north for Scottish Natural Heritage. He lost his battle with cancer on September the 19th and only a month before was awarded the R.S.P.B.'S Conservation Medal.

I have a copy of his book and for any one interested in golden eagles it is a must have.

Google his name and read his obituary in the Scotsman. He achieved so much ,and your right it is a great shame he died so young.

Sad news indeed! Dr. Watson was very well liked & respected by eagle aficionados here in Sweden, and got a glowing response on a presentation he made at an eagle seminar in Järvsö just 1 year ago. Sadly enough I didn't have the opportunity to go and listen to him myself at the time, but I read a report about it as late as last week in the Swedish Eagle Group's yearbook for 2006 (sic!), utterly unaware of the fact that he had passed away. And at not such an old age either...:(. What a shame.

I have got the book and I must say it is a very well written and informative book on the goldie. Try Ebay aswell, that's where I got it from last year.
