hi
i have a 2007 female pere/saker she is a small female flying weight 1ib 12oz
i bought her for crow hawking but ant getting much luck catching any with her, but a good friend of mine who wonts to bye her says she is a natural game hawk cause she will circle me and just keep going up and up yesterday she doted out(**** me self)
and with in 5 mins she was back and on the lure.
now im not sure what to do with her cause he seems to think that im going to mess things up with her tying to get her entered on crows. and that i will have to deside soon before its to late with her.

Jace please dont fly her at crow or corvid mate if you get a bird that naturally responds like that then she is well suited to game hawking and if you dont want to fly her at game sell her to this somebody and you can get a bird for crow hawking

I mean why have you not had any success in your efforts to enter her to crows?
Natural high flying falcons can be just as well suited to rook and crow hawking as to game hawking.

Your mate is right as someone who has struggled in the past to make a high mounting game hawk I can see what he is saying.
And if I was to see your falcon fly in this way I would think the same if you told me you were going to make it a rook hawk.
It does seem such a waste of a birds natural ability to fly in this style.
But at the end of the day it's your hawk so fly it as you see fit
But I think you will regret not seeing her stoop at game from the pitches you are talking about.
Why not give her a crack as a game hawk yourself for this season an see what pleasure you get out of it.

All falcons will go up given the right opportunity, if you really want to hunt crows with her then hunt crows with her………its not a waste of a naturally high flying falcon simply because they are all naturally high flying……
This one went on to kill 30 corvids in 30 days, and I have never trained a falcon that’s not gone up like this one did during and after training……

I fly a gyr/saker who has always naturally gone up, and waited on. He regularly dots out and will put in a great stoop when called back to lure.
I use him for corvids. He will also use this same tactic with the crows. gets high then stoops in when they aint expecting it.
Falcons can be difficult to get entered. Have you or your mate thought you may have as much trouble entering him on game as you have had with corvids.

Take your friends advice.
And do it quickly, while She's consistently gaining height.
good luck

Do you know if I had passed on every falcon that I have had for crow hawking because it went “up” I would never had flown a falcon at crows…..
My advice for what it’s worth…….
Don’t think that your falcon is a one off because she fly’s high, she is not……Don’t feel obliged to sell her to your friend because he says she will make a good game hawk….
You bought her specifically to hunt crows; if you still want to hunt crows then use her for them on the other hand if you have lost interest in hunting crows then the faster your friend gets his hands on her the better….
