Sadly a few minutes ago Shrek died after seeing a vet they tried their hardest to sort him. Not sure yet what caused this. Don't think I want him cut apart to find out.
I am sorry for letting the little fella down. He was my first Gos and with all the problems with him then coming good I will miss him.
Thanks for all the help and good wishes I have had for him.

Alex, you have nothing to apologise for livestock is always deadstock its just the duration that you cant guess, my advise is as others, get yourself back in the saddle ASAP if for no other reason than there is breathing corvids out there that require slaying. a hard few days ahead but you will get through it. All the best Steve.

Its obviously your choice but you really should have a PM done for peace of mind. I lost my male just before the season started and had flown him for 7 seasons. He was the best bird I have flown and the most I have ever bonded with a bird. It was a painful decision but I still had to find out the cause.
Good luck,
Brian

Alex,
Firstly, I'm really sorry to hear of your loss.
Secondly I know two chaps locally who have Gosses up on the IBR site. Ones a mature German (but I think he might have decided not to sell) the others a young Finn Female.

I have decided to get the Shrek checked to find out the cause of his death. Just want to know for sure.
Trying really hard now to find a bird, would consider having a harris or other for the rest of the season. Just want to get hunting again.
Thanks for all the replies guys it mean a lot.

Been doing a lot of thinking today while driving around the UK, I might have only had Shrek a few months but he has taught me so many lessons, I can't wait to put these into practice with future birds. As has been said others will be compared to him but there will never be another (I hope in some ways). He tested my patience in so many ways but when he came good he was something special.
Thanks for all the kind words.

I am so very sorry to hear that you lost your little guy. I just got back at 5am this morning from picking up my new saker. I waited a whole year after my little imprint american kestrel was murdered by a tabby cat last fall to get a new bird. I don't reccomended waiting. But I hope that you do have the post mortem done so that you know there is nothing lingering that might affect a new bird. Good luck with finding the new guy and keep us posted.
