my harris has caught a starling, a jack russel, a dach-hund and a mink, oh and a cat and a chicken! she also caught a goose and got pulled underwater before letting go! (not all in one season mind but all very funny occasions) what has your bird caught that was out of the ordinary?

A Female Gos called Lady held on to a Hedgehog and she caught a Stoat too.
My old Female Redtail caught 2 rabbits, WAIT FOR IT, in a tree, same tree, but different times. Tree was very sloped and the bunnies for some reason used it.
My Male Harris, Sultan has taken loads of small birds from Robins to Black Birds, Magpies and even Crows, Most unusual? A Little Owl. BUT the best of all a Mackrel on Meadfoot Beach.
Wife Male Redtail used to take Seagulls and once raided a Ravens nest and then killed one parent as it tried too chase him off.

I had a bit of a shock last season with my trusted hen harris, watched the bird from a distance crash through thick cover and when i eventually go there it was sat on a not so happy moggy...what a battle to seperate them,i have still got the scars on my arms, also it pounced on a unsuspecting barn owl who was taking a welcome rest in the autumn sunshine, luckily i managed to extract the owl from my bird without to much damage to it,stayed with the owl for half an hour until it got its composure back and of it went into the dusky twighlight...who said there were no happy endings :D

ive no amusing stories of birds yet as i have no bird however heres a couple about an excerlent dog i had many years ago,i got some permision on land belonging to brittish steel, the first time on there i was approached by a security man in a van i showed him my letter of permision to control the rabbit population,at that he said do youre dogs kill cats ooono i said reasuringly good he said at that as if on que there was a commotion in a small cops and out came my collie/grey cross triumphantly retrieving his beloved cat permision gained and lost in record time.another time i took my daughter to the park to feed the ducks
i had my dog on the leash we stood arround the pond with other parrents and toddlers throwing bread to the ducks when all hell broke loose kids crying woemen screeming and me red faced as my dog picked up a squirel that was scrounging bread at our feet...what can you do!

A female Red must be the best bird I have flown on Squirrel, her last season was 18, without me looking for them, that was just what she came across!

they"re actualy very nice, the first time i had it i was un-aware of what it was i was at the inlaws who are all shooting fanatics, because they put the game down them selves all virmin are controled and the squirels are eaten similar to rabbit with a much sweeter flavour.

I once left the door open as I brought my Hen Harris in the house to watch a bit of tele. After I cleaned up one of her messes I chucked her back in the aviary and went straight back in the house. Next I knew my little sister came in screaming saying there was a little songbird being chased by Trinity. I went out to investigate and found Trinity chasing this little bird round the aviary just before catching it and devouring it before I could prize it off her.

It seems to be a fairly nice kind of meat, not off putting like say rat, and better looking than rabbit.

I wonder where these restaurants get them?

when i saw a few guys eat them in the states they had them just skined guted and on a stick fresh from the bbQ

Marinade with chilli peppers , mixed herbs, sugar ,and a tomato sauce ,oil, leave in the fridge overnight so things can flavour . BBQ the next day.
Only use the back legs and the meat around the back bone.
Squirrel tantastic?
