is it just me it does it happen to?
your out in the woods doing your bit when some old duffer comes along with a dog thats demented,
they stand under the tree your bird is in gorping the dog is yapping and your bird gets upset.
and no amount of calling will entice your bird away from the evil stares and nasty squalks its making at the yapping mutt!!!
it gives me the right hump on, who are these people? is their mission in life just to upset us falconers?

Yeh, i get this sort of thing all the time, my hen harrsis just about tollerates dogs but you always get the odd prat with two alsations who starts making a beeline for you as soon as they see a B.O.P on your fist...next thing you know the bird is expressing its annoyance, the dogs start barking and jumping and the owner chirps up and says ''does's it come back to you'' ''is it a kestrel"...dont you just love em.
I think they are generally intrested, but seem to ,lack common sense, thats why they have dogs and not hawks me thinks

ha ha ! i forgot the kestrel line! heheh so accurate, i recon your right about the lack of common sense tho, I just wish they werent so nosey, my bird is fine with gsp's/working dogs she seems to know the difference between workers and shirkers, when these people come along i find my self being polite through gritted teeth (a true ambassodor to the sport no less) even though im really annoyed

Sometime you may end up meeting the person with the ultimate piece of land, so be NICE!

Yeah and when talking to someone always put emphasis on how short of good land you are to fly your bird on and how nobody really understands. You never know you might just get an offer.

Had this problem at the weekend. Was flying on land with a public right of way. All dogs are meant to be on a lead. This yappy little mongrel legs it over and starts jumping up at my mate who has his FHH on the fist, mines up in the tree above looking all scatty and the dog owner is about 300yds away oblivious to what the dog is doing or even where it is.
After giving the dog a size 8 leather injection and a barney with the owner we got back to some wabbit hawking.
Maybe the owner should have got the size 8?
