I have at home a rehabing spar which let me perplexed. That bird was shooted by a teen (4.5 air gun) and arrive home few hours later at weight 180g. After a week eating two full crop a day his weight do not go over 200g.
Looks like a spar at first but when totally relaxed looks like more a musket.
What's your opinion????
Also, look how rock steady he is, this is a wild bird at fat weight!!!

Dear Youcef,
This is a small female for sure. I have also flown a female rehabilitation Spar in this weight catagory. She looks stunning !

She is ok now and will survive. The problem is she still have the lead on her because there was too much risk to remove it.
The lead is in her breast just under the wing, so we don't know if she will fly well again....

Thats a real shame as shes a nice looking bird,I know that birds dont live long with lead inside them(eaten)but i,m not sure if its the same when they been shot,I mean if has the same effect.

From the vet she has less risk to die from saturnism with the lead in the muscle compare to an eaten one....
In all case, i agree with you it's a shame!

No, lead isn't toxic in the muscle, only when in the digestive tract.
