best way is to just write lost of letters to farmers, golfcoarses, landowners, councils etc but be prepared to not get any replys and or knockbacks, but under no circumstances just go onto land that you havnt got permission to be on, because all land belongs to someone flying a hawk at rabbits without permisson is classed as poaching and trespassing

You will also want to ask any potential land owners if there are any other 'falconers' flying on the land. The last thing you want is to be out with your bird, only to find out that some one else is flying their bird of different species and have a fatal accident.
I always ask if permission has been granted to any other falconer and if 'Yes', then I try to find out as much as poss. about the other person so as not to have a mis-hap.
Shooters as well; you don't want your bird shot.

I've always found that there is no substitute for knocking on doors.....
However, I always try to do a bit of homework on the landowner first.
There may be a right & a wrong time to ask.
I'm currently working on one at the moment. If I don't get it, I know I will probably never get another shot at it. He's one arrogant pig headed git. But I also know that if I get it right, I'll get a yes straight away, and have a totally free run.

just knock on the door and be as polite as possible, i would advise not to use letters actually, the personal approach is better. Talk a bit about the bird and stuff.
