Hi,
I got a new Eskantrack telemetry set and would appreciate some tips on getting the best out of it.
I tried today and found I picked up a signal but couldn't narrow down to the direction exactly. Also, there's a switch for normal or ATT, which do I set it on.
Thanks for any help

Hi,
I imagine ATT is for Attenuator it merely reduces the strength of the signal to prevent swamping, in short it enables you to accurately track the transmitter in close range.

i set my transmitter in a bush remember were u put it go a couple of mile
u should get a good 1/2 circle or more u should then get a rough direction
as u get closer the arc becomes more of a circle try the att u may get a half circle again also work with your volumn turn it down as low as u can
u will get your direction turn your volumn is the key again let us know how u get on al the best

not much more to say, keep turning volume down and gain so the signal is clear then turn around till you get the loudest signal. dont forget to check behind you, it is possible to walk past!! also try holding receiver poiting up or down to get a height. If you are tracking a bird in could be in flight, up a tree or down in a gulley. Power and phone masts can make the signal appear to come from a different direction sometimes, getting up high helps for longer distances.

Also hold the yaggi in the vertical or horizontal position, even at 45 degrees to see which position gives the best signal. Many people hold it like a gun and never rotate its axis, this can make a vast difference.

Good advice there from Outfly, I had a nice long walk today following a flight with my Pere x Prarie, I sometimes got a stronger signal by turning the yagi on its side, don't stay static move it around constantly always ensuring you are getting the strongest signal possible, I tracked him all the way back to the original field where he was slipped (one big circle), I think he was just giving me the run around....little sod, I will just stay put and wait next time.

Could be a long time if the bird caught supper
Mine headed for home 14 miles away when I couldn't find him!!!
Who says you always find a bird within a mile of where you lost it ???!!!!
OK so mines different, but I always knew that,
