Flying weight in 1st season 2lb 15oz. Her history is she was parent reared by her mother who was a imprint. She was purchased by Neil (Scuffman) on the forum, when he got to creance stage the gos would sometimes ignore the fist and hit him around the head. This was his 1st goshawk and understandably he became afraid of her. Nobody wants nearly 3lb of goshawk in their face. Anyway i bought her from him and all was well until she did the same to me. After 4 or 5 direct hits, the last which nearly took my eye out i no longer fly her to the fist (Lure Only). Having traced back her parentage i have found 3 generations having the same behaviour, all parent reared. A good friend of mine in Hereford fly the aunty to my bird and his displays the same behaviour. To sum her up : Excellent hunter but lure only. p.s. She does not scream or mantle. Pete.

Went out today hopeing for a better day than friday, beating yesterday. Went to a shooting estate i fly on, first slip in Dairy wood on cock pheasant. Gos left the fist and flew to the left of the pen right on his tail, tracked to the lower end of the wood where i found her tucking in. Second slip again cock pheasant, went out of Dairy wood across a field into Winterburn wood, lost sight of them. Made my way to winterburn, but only getting a slight signal, walked straight through the wood and getting a strong signal across a field towards a brook. Tracked to the brook and there she was on her prize. So out of one wood, across a field into another, straight through that, across the lane and the next field and into the brook. Thank God for Telemetary. Got some pics, try to put them on.

So, I'm having difficulty understanding the language - when you say f.....ing, does that mean **** or ****? And, are the words **** and **** the same, or completely different, and if so, what is the meaning of "****?" I'm trying to get an idea of what your messages mean.

I have other questions, too. I asked about "kipper" - I think it means a fish breakfast, which I would love! if you have more info, I'd like to know.

Jeees, hopefully you get me meaning, but the post won't allow a straight configuration of the word - so I mean does f e c k mean the same as **** or is it totally different? How rediculous that we have to go through this nonsense to talk language. Whatever. I would like to know. Also, I would like to know about the ferret question. Thanks! Jennifer

how about not using the word at all.
show a little class , considering the word is ambigious and has nothing to do with anything, it is unnecessary
looking to expand your outlook .. start with your vocab,
there is a reason that the short wingers are always looked at as the blue collar type hawker.

Went out today despite weather being awful, arrived at Bridgenorth to be greeted by rain and strong winds. Decided to fly the gos inside one of woods, at least she could sit upright. Helen, my wife was with me and wisely decided to stay in the truck. Was"nt expecting much as i knew this particular wood was shot yesterday. After about 20minutes Holly was on point, made my way over, and gave her the command to flush. A cock pheasant burst out the undergrowth and headed out of the wood, closely followed by the gos. Tracked her to the next wood, there she was happily tucking in. With the weather getting no better, decided to call it a day. Fed the Gos up and took the wife for dinner..

Pete...yes it's the same hawk that used to give a helping hand for that useless tawny belonging to merv (if you see my point). Still have him after all this time and he catches plenty, had a 3 bag day on the mynd last week with john rogers slope soaring.
Living in bridgnorth now and only have the harris now. spose you hear'd about the hassle i had with the gosses, The german bird died of asper, she was a joy to fly and very steady in nature. The Finn was stolen whilst living in broseley and hard work from the start.
Where you living now pete, reply by pm if you like??

Out today after work to give the Gos some exercise, normally just walk across the fields, and she follows me. Occasionaly bringing her down to the lure. Suddenly from her vantage point, high in a tree, she takes off getting lower all the time. Then i see the rabbit running up a hill, gos closeing all the time. She hits it once and loses it, gets up, and nails it the second time.. :supz:

Last night we went to the shoot dinner, free food and free bar, was i p..... Stayed in the hotel overnight. Helen said " you can"t take the hawk in the room " Watch me i said, no way was i leaving her in the car. Got up this morning, not feeling great. Drove to the estate, Gos was spot on weight. Two good points from Holly, three pheasants caught. Last flight was cracking. Hen bird from a point, tracked her along a brook, long way back to the truck.

Out on the estate today, went to dairy rough. Holly, my pointer put up a cock pheasant out of cover, Goshawk was not in a good position and quickly gave up. Not long before Holly came on point, held long enough to get some pictures, hen bird flushed with Melissa taking it just inside dairy wood.

Went to estate today with looking for hares in mind, Mellisa has never been flown on hares but i thought " Ill give it a go ". After walking three fields a hare got up ten yards in front, Mel was off like a shot, but refused before contact. Try again tomorrow... Anyway here"s some pics of what she does best.. Pre end of game season, of course...

A mates HH used to do that, two memorable stories, he had a blue van, one day whilst HH is on the soar a blue van pulled up, Harris dropped and was bouncing on the roof, another after walking up the big Hill at Malham when staying in the Bunk Barn his HH was slipped and she decided enough with it, and flew all the way back down to the car, she was waiting for him when he eventually went down to her.
