Ladies and gentlemen!

I would like to organise a telemetry testing of as many sets as we can get hold of, in the same area with various scenarios, like ditch, long distance, close up and the hilly country!

We can make a set of rules, criteria and scientfic guideline to benefit the community and all falconers alike.

I know this has been done, but not in 2005 by this forum.

So who is interested in participating? 8)

I had a more scientific way in mind, we get all the systems together and then take each through their paces, in various different types of land layout.

I too can provide three of four systems from the area, maybe more.

I would with my Bio Track but all depends on how far we have to travel. BT-6 and a FT3 tranny.

Lost my bird on long slip on hare on sunday, signal went on 1 mile line of sight. (farmer saw him too) Happily he tried to fly 15 miles home but stopped for chicken snack so was picked up & returned wednesday (kept 2 days & all his equipment was cut off!!!) While searching till midnight sunday all monday, tuesday & half wednesday we tested my luksander mn10 on 216.5 & friends 216 set that i can pick up on channel 0. we hung her transmitter in a tree in garden. Were horrified to find that in that area neither set would work over more than a mile, plenty of high hills but only when you were within 1 mile up or down could you pick up signal. there are electric pilons but also a radio mast that has a view for about 32 miles in all directions, no interference but no signal from there either which is about 5 miles as bird flies. All done with brand new batteries in transmitters an receivers !!! Scarey... led light would work better !!!!

To make it easier for everyone why don't we get to togeter in our own areas and do a comparitive test with the systems you have at your disposal?

So to give an example: I have access to a Luksander and a Marshall as well as a system used for tracking rockets. I will test the transmitters, all with new tested batteries from the same location, over various hills, distances and through cover etc.

I will then post a new thread with the result under the Telemetry section?

Makes sense to me; I will ask at the Club to sort something out with various systems. I know we have Marshalls and Bio-Track, possibly a Luksander.
All I can do is ask.

Surely is this not all Academic unless all of the sytems are compared at the same location, with identical conditions, weather ect?

True BUT for now we can get an idea of how different systems work where they are tested. It is too much to ask everyone to meet up somewhere or even to post systems across the country to setup a test?

Or isn't it? Maybe an idea for later?

I have a luksander reciever but no transmitter !!!! see earlier post !! Robin Haigh told me Luksander range is infinitty!!! wow I couldnt find my bird but I should have been able to pick up birds all over GB and when still out searching at night I should have picked up loads in the USA

Well just to let you know, i had a transmitter fall off a dodgy mount on Saturday, discovered the fact when i got back to the car?

Tracked back 2 1/4 mile over very broken , hill terrain which might not sound very far but this was all gullies and mountains.

Found the tranny straight away in 2 ft snow drift?? Directional signal like a lazer.

This was using a falconry electronics tranny and reciever! I have used most systems in the past incl Fintrak, Audio precision, Brian Patt syst, Ben long syst, Marshal, Bio trak, Martin Jones etc but this system Rocks!!

This is without a doubt the best system i have owned and used and i would thoroughly reccoment it to anyone, Im one very, very happy customer

I bought a large merlin transmitter from Falconry Electronics. I would say it is foolproof in its design as the battery is held in position by a rubber sleeve. No cylinders to work loose and batteries lost etc.
The service provided by Eddie Allum from the company has been second to non.
The advice he gave me was excellent. I will be purchasing the receiver from him during the summer.

I use the MV5 on the perlin; as an extra precaution, I always put a little duck tape around the sleeve.
