The El Diablo El Dorado

The El Diablo "El Dorado" (which means "FULLY LOADED").
This hood features,,10 colors, two colored braces, 10 JM (John Moran) leather washers, it is also fully tooled and has two paintings on the inside of my hybrid hawk Obby Khan.

And no I am not on acid!!

That's strange, I always thought it meant "The Gilded One", or, in another context, "The City of Gold".

MattSpar, I once read an old novel when I was a kid and in it they described a treasure they looked for and found as their El Dorado or mother load,, so all my hoods I make that I add everything to, I now call my El Dorado,, or mother(fully-) load(ed)..
Just my interpretation..

Billy RFC, The hood is certainly not hard to make ,,the tooling, the paintings on the inside and making the leather washers are just tedious,, and if you screw up once when you are applying the dye the hood is ruined..

Hey BWacker no problem,, over the past 11 years of work I have spent almost a year in Sask, I am almost a true Roughrider fan,, you beginning to settle in are you??

POTWdesert,, sorry there is no one that can surpass nor come close to John with any hood in my mind.. Especially his creative artwork of his hoods,, When he was in his heyday of making hoods in the late 70's early 80's he was SO FAR AHEAD of his time,, even today we hoodmakers are doing things that we think are new,, only to find that John has already done it 20 some years ago,,I have dozens of hoodphotos and a DVD that shows some of his finest hoods and they just blow me away!! He was and is the Finest Hoodmaker on the planet.

As for among the great hoodmakers of all time,, Thank you,, but I have A LONG WAY TO GO..

i too hold jon moran in the highest esteem possible as a hoodmaker,, yet,, i never remember seeing any of his hoods that were as 'BUSY" as your eldorado hood,,
could you post some photos of his most elaborate, and tooled hood , that you are aware of?

I have done an article for the NAFA Journal on John Moran, (with his permission and help of course),, it should be out this Jan/Feb. There are some pretty wild hood photos in it, some of his favorites . As for BUSY,, guess that is in the eye of the beholder,, he has some very busy ones but very different from my style.
As for me posting pictures of John's hoods?? Sorry the dozens of photos given to me from John were given to ME and it is not my place to post them on this or any forum.

fitted some of my goretex braces and hey presto:yawinkle: I will have to alter the beak slightly but apart from that perfect fit! Another perfect fit and great peice of artwork thanks again ken!

I am in awe of a well made hood, but loud colours and patterns have never appealed, but suddenly I have a yearning for a pair. One in Rolling Stones livery and logo, the other Aerosmith. If you wanna go for a triple set, how about Led Zep'.

Hey Julian glad it arrived, so so sorry for the wait, just a crazy time! I like it,, I tried a different cut on that beak,, it needs to be just trimmed abit .. The colors look good on your falcon!! Hope you are pleased!!

Lets go for it, I would need some photos etc on exactly what you wish , what style of hoods etc ,, I am coming out with a Custom made Hood line, featuring sports teams, (like the one for Julian), logos, am working on one for another Forum with their logo, company logos, Zoos, Bird Of prey centers etc..All hoods will be dyed so there is no chance of the designs cracking, or peeling off .. The "Themes" will be all customer driven,,should be exciting!!

How about tongue on one side, the zipper on the other? Let me know..They would not be hoods I can make in a day or so, the last Designer hoods took like 8-10 hours just applying dyes to the carved ravens..
