As some will already know I have a 5yr old FHH. She is totally parent reared, silent, non aggressive and has had 100s of kills.

She is bowed out on the garden on the lawn right next to a shrub border. For the last week or so whenever she sees me she starts picking up leaves, twigs, anything she can reach and placing them in the same spot in the border.

I've just been out to have a look and she's made a basic nest. I've never had a Harris' do this before, she shows no signs of the negative side of an imprint and will call and display to MHH during the summer.

Anyone else noticed similar behaviour.

The last year, Kier often collects twigs and bind weed that creeps through the panels and puts them up on his perch as if to be nesting but thats as far as he's got. Apart from the ground he has no where to make a nest.

Which of the male and female builds the nest or do they both do it???

Yes they normally share it, the male usually passes materials to the female.
If she starts standing I might have to look for some Gos Semen lol!!

I witness exact the same, with my about the same age FHH.
She's done this last year too, and laid 1 egg too! She's absolute wuite, not imprinted on any way (allthough thats still what i truley believe and not witnessed otherwise). My FHH is in an aviary year round, but gets flown regular, ie almost every day, wheater permitting.

Marco
