It is extreamly hard to find them where I am, but my bird managed to get this one after 30min in the field today.

Notice how we use the ski pole/ flushing stick that I have talked about to stake down the game. Somthing most of the New England guys do.

Why do you use a pole to stake the game? Excuse me if I'm being dumb for asking...

Thats a lovely looking Redtail, well done and happy birthday.

We stake down the game so that we have somthing to tie out leash off to. And secondly it can discourage carrying. Some use it for dispatching, but I do it by hand then stake down the kill.

Ok - I thought about the carrying bit but I also thought that the stake would spoil the meat if you wanted to eat any yourself?
Doesn't ruin that much meat it is just a ski pole with the plastic guard taken off, the bird does more dammage than the stake. This bunny I got in my vest missing just a front leg that I used to transfer. Made a nice dinner for both the bird and myself.

nice picture but when i first saw it i thought you had bloody zulus hunting the game around there  nothing better than seeing a bird doing the thing it is supposed to do well done and happy birthday. .ps i think when you have to work a bit harder for your quarry you learn to apreciate it that bit more lets face it we are not all blessed with land with an abundance of game KEV.

wow! great photos, would you mind putting them on the calender thread?
Feel free to move them. I am down in Costa Rica right now so my internet time is limited. Otherwise I would move them myself.
