The bird has a lot more confident being higher than you.My friend has his gos on a bow pirch an it constant baits.I had my gos eating out the glove on are first day useing this pole.

used something similar to man up the two new HH's after seeing them in use in funnily enough bristol when i picked them up.

the bird not only has confidence it learns that baiting gets it no where and it seems to stop them. Being very short tethered through the top mean they dont tanlge either.

both our birds manned up in no time and NEVER bait about on the bows.

would defo recommend them.

Good thread Finish :D

how are they made

Finnish

What you need is a scaffoldd pole 4"drain pipe and a small wheel for your bird to stand on and then is pritty simple.

sorry if this seems like a dumb question but if the bird does bait how does it get back up without hanging itself this is not a dig im curios thats all

At first you have to watch him for 3 days and may have to pick him up sometimes but when he baits now he just spins in a circle and getts up on his own.But then again he dose not bait that much because he fills safe up there.I hope this makes sense Saker Mad. :)

hi S M, they are very short tethered also, if you lok at the photo finish has put up you will see the bird has no leash length at all and the swivel is hard up against the ring in the middle top. becaue of this there is nowhere for the bird to hang and tends to pick itself up very easily if it baits, also with it being a pole as apposed to a screen the bird can alway come back around an itself..

hope that helps you to understand........

The jesses MUST be 5" from the botton to the swivel slit so the bird dont straddle the wheel and so regains the perch. For the first3-4 days it takes a lot of the hardship and stress of the manning away, the bird feels safe up high & confident. After this i take it off and they are pyt on a raptor post or as i prefer a variation of the waller ring perch (i"ll put a pic of one up) as in "Hawk For The Bush".

in use in funnily enough bristol when i picked them up

mmmmmmm lost me post.....thanks for that Gaz, iv downloaded the pic.

like i said (incase me post reappears i might have pressed summat i shouldnt )

i presume the principle is the same with the poles, the bird cannot bate too far.

The only "bating" is to jump from one side of the ring to the other, thats the flight instinct satisfied, and it cant hang upside down,I"ll put a pic of mine up soon as i finished revamping it.

NEVER tether a bird with bullet jesses,...hunting only.

It looks safe from any dogs or cats to bother the bird. I would think that a three inch steel pole with a large ring that could freely move up and down the shaft of the pole would work well with the attachment of a bungy cord to relieve the trama of the bird reaching the end on the creance. A friend of mine had a ferruginous hawk which was bating a lot from the bow perch I guess it went on too long and the stress finally caused two fractures in the upper portion of the left leg.
