Think of what you are getting! I use Timberland Hiking boots which cost around the same amount but they are warm waterproof and have lasted me 3 years worth of hawking out on marshes!
If they work well they are well worth the money. Afterall you would spend double that at least on your bird!

Nice boots the Meindl's mate, it was a decision between those as a brand and the Irish Setters when I bought new ones a couple of months ago.
I plumped for these in the end at £45 delivered..... ;)

Roughly how long do you expect them to last?
Matthew Patching
05-01-2008, 05:54 PM
I had a pair of mendl's a while back, and loved them, but they only lasted 2 seasons, due to heavy cover damaging the waterproof seam.
I then got a pair of sorel caribou, and they were a big disapointment, running in them was a ball ache, they werent as waterproof as I was led to believe, (considering they are rated to -35 degC, and designed for snow trecking), so they have taken pride of place next to the dogs bed.
This season decided on a pair of north face snow boots, and I am well impressed, they are warn ( i Suffer with blood circualtion problems (raynauds desease). Definatly waterproof, until they are completely submerged, and for £85 delivered, I couldnt ask for more.
I looked at the exact same boot over Christmas. Fit perfectly and very comfy £175 really regretting not getting them now. :(

Hi Greg, Yes you are right but the RedWing Shoe Company and Irish Setter are the same Company it is just a part of their range.
I paid full price for the original pair but found that Sierra Trading have just reduced them to $114 a pair and with the $ to £ rate as it is they are as cheap as chips so I just bought another pair just incase.
Anyone interested just type in Irish Setter Summit Boots in your search bar and look for Sierra Trading for a great deal, I should be on Commission for this

Please remember guy's these are US sizes there is a link to US/UK/Euro sizing conversion chart on the home page as a rule of thumb always go for a full size larger than the UK size to ensure a good fit. Also unless you have wide feet don't go for the 2E or EE width ask for a D that is a normal width fitting for most of us. If the size you want is not listed then ring them and ask for the stock level they are holding. I take a UK size 10 but could not find what I wanted on the site I rang them and within a couple of mins they had found 30 pairs to fit me so it is worth a call the number is on the contact page but I have another number that is the best to try and that is 001 800 713 4534 the lady there sorted my order in a few mins

Tim best way is to ring them tomorrow and pay by card the order comes out the same day last lot took 4 days to get here as Customs stuck their noses in but Import Duty only came to £12.50. They ship by UPS so you can track the shipment if you want.
I think you are better to ring them as then you will get the exact size and width that you want. Shipping was very cheap by the way if you need to know have a look on the site the price is there if you can't find it then I will dig out my invoice

Good link Greg but check out the price for the Irish Setter Summit Boots they want $199.95 a pair compaired to $114.95 from Sierra Trading Post
Big difference, as I said I paid the full price and then my Son Matt wanted a pair and I ran a few searches and found this to be the best price available and as I said I even ordered another pair at that price for myself as the $ to £ rate is so good for us in the UK

Hey Wez,
Best Boots I ever bought..... dono how I ever managed without them.
Tried them out in earnest yesterday on the hills doing some Extreme Eagle hawking, and superb.
What do you treat them with? I was looking at the Meindl Sportwax... not bad at £2.30 best price I could find, but they want £4-5 delivery. Not worth it at that.

I ended up buying NikWax to re seal my Le Chameau boots, once they require it. Postage wasn't too expensive, but i see that Gow's of Dundee are stockists of meindl Johhan, don't know who you would have near Aberdeen.

Anyone interested just type in Irish Setter Summit Boots in your search bar and look for Sierra Trading for a great deal, I should be on Commission for this
Terry
i work for an american firm and redwing are the first choice for saftey boots.
the ones i was issued with and wear, fit and look like a pair of brown army boots. they have a steel toe that you wouldnt ever notice and they are calf high and fully waterproof.
strongest and and best made boots i have ever encountered.
