The Yorkshire Falconry Club was established approximately eight years ago as a focus point in Yorkshire for the many falconers in the county who practiced their sport alone or in small groups.

I for one would like to thank Steve and the Y-F-C for there hospitality and what was a great nite, in great surroundings with good members.
The Rory talk was great....and the chat after was even greater (would recommend if any other club was looking for a guest speeker)....
So i-m-o anyone within the catchment area of the club should defiantly go sample there warm welcome....

As Chairman of the "Splinter Group" I have to say it was an excellent night, Rory was great but it was also good to meet our "friends up North". Steve Lambert did an excellent job in finding our guest speaker and then in arranging all visitor details. Well done Steve.
Our "Splinter Group" has over forty members and holds nearly twenty field meets each season, a record which surely makes us a "Good Falconry Club" possibly - the best in Yorkshire:-D

Now now John statements like that are very silly, ur club is doing welll and its good to see, i think the measure of a club is not by its membership (we have more than u) nor by the number of field meets (42 we had last year) or the guest speakers, its the knowledge contained in the club, and those passing it on, The Yorkshire Falconry Club has no rival in Yorkshire as its not good enough to rival either the NEFC or BFC:lol:
And that not through ignorance but knowledge and the power it has
Liam
PS John u really will have to come to one of our meetings before u make silly statements lol

I agree with you about the influence of both clubs but you must realise it was a "tongue in cheek" comment with a big smile on my face. After the meeting we actually discussed the differences between the two clubs and ours is more casual, perhaps less professionally organised and less experienced in many areas of longwings and some shortwings but our ability to bring on falconers who wish to fly broadwings cannot I think be questioned.
If we were to get involved in cemantics as we are the only club with Yorkshire in our name we could "possibly be the best in Yorkshire", just as Carlsberg could be the best lager in the world.
At the end of it it was a good night and we all enjoyed your company, you and your club members will always be welcome to attend just as I know we are more than welcome at the NEFC.
Best wishes
John

After all that I addressed it to the wrong person - drat
Morning all,
I dont know. I never been up to the NEFC so I dont know what its like up there. I will be up there next month though :supz:
I wont go naming other clubs and running them down, but some clubs aren't the friendliest of places to go to as a newcomer to the sport, which I can hand on heart say the YFC will give the same welcome to you experienced or not.
Its a shame that splinter groups set up for what ever reason, the YFC did splinter off from the NEFC over a decade ago, and not too long a go a club splintered from the YFC. Who cares? We all practice the same sport and have the same goal, united we stand devided we fall!
We have 50 members John 8-)
P.S. Three pipped this morning and caught me out!
