Anyone have any opinions about putting down partridge or pheasant poults?
I have a bit of ground where old cages are still there from a pheasant shoot a few years back, apparently there are a lot of foxes about (but a friend has that in hand!) but I havent the first clue how to rear them, release them or keep them on or near the ground. Any suggestions would be welcomed..
Cheers

Hi
I have a 4yo female harris just now, flying @ 1 12. Not a big bird, but great temperament and loves the bunnies!!
I'm taking a pere/saker next season and a Brittany too, hence the reason for the interest in partridge/pheasant.
Just further to my earlier question, how do I stop my falcon becoming wedded to these if I go rook hawking?
hi bluehawk hows it going m8 !! phesant polts are easy to bring up and to releise them its just a case of opening the pen door and setting feeders out for them to feed of for the first few weeks they will hang around and feed out of the feeders you have set out for them but then you need to stop feeding them and just let em scrach for there own food and thats all there is to it realy ! partridge is a diffrent case alltogether m8 first of the greys are very exspensive to buy as poults and after they are set out to pasture they tend to **** of not to be seen again ! the red legs are a wee bit cheaper to buy and dont tend to **** of the same as the greys ! but if theres vixen on the go it wont be long before they **** of ! n but the way m8 if yer in a wooded erea a falcon will be no good a gos will be better jmo! its easy to turn a game hawk into a rook hawk but its not so easy to turn a rook hawk into a game hawk !! hope that hels you m8 if you need to know enything els just gis a shout ...................
