This is not a ”How To DoFalconry” manual but a very small window into the world of falconry, which we hope
will assist the aspiring falconer.
これは、ハウツウ物のファルコンリーマニュアルでは無く、私たちがファルコナーを目指す人を支援する事を念 頭に置いて作成した、ファルコンリーの世界への小さな窓口です。

Why was this booklet written?
この小冊子は何故書かれたかのでしょうか？
Too many times newcomers to falconry join the IFF after purchasing their first hawk,
ファルコンリーを始めた人のかなり多くが最初の鷹を購入してからIFFに参加し、
and often because:
しばしば：
• Something unexpected has happened
・何か予想外の事が起こってしまった
• Something has gone wrong, or
・何かがうまくいっていない、或いは、
• The individual has realized that they do not have the experience required
・必要とされる経験を持ち合わせていないという事を思い知ったりします。
This invariably angers many forum members, simply because, if the necessary
research had been done in the first place, then such a situation would not have arisen.
これは、常に多くのフォーラム・メンバーを苛立たせます。何故なら、単に最初に充分な調査がなされていれば 、その様な状況は起こり得ないからです。
Why is it a Falconer’s responsibility to practice falconry properly?
ファルコンリーを適切に実践する事が何故ファルコナーの責任なのでしょうか？
“Because.......every time any one of us picks up a bird we are not only responsible for
what we do in relation to our own bird, but also to the entire history and the entire
future of falconry.
何故なら…、私たちが一羽の鷹を手にする時はいつでも、私たちには、個人が所有する鷹に対して何をするかに 関して責任があるだけでなく、ファルコンリー全体の歴史とファルコンリーの将来に対する責任があるからです 。
We are, each of us, electing to take responsibility for something
which has been practiced long before we were born and which will continue long after
we die.
私たちは、各個人が、私たちが生まれるはるか以前から実践され、そして、私たちが死んだ後も継続されるであ ろう何かに対して責任を取る事を決めたのです。
If we cannot be true to the obligation to secure it for the future by virtue of the
way we practice it in the present....then we have no right to call ourselves falconers
and we are entirely disgraced by our ineptitude.
もし私たちが、現在私たちが実践するやり方のせいで、将来の為にそれを守る義務に誠実であることが出来なけ れば、
私たちには、私たち自身をファルコナーと呼ぶ資格は無く、私たちは、私たちの馬鹿な行為によって完全に面目 を潰すことになります。
Do it properly or don't do it at all.”
適切に実践するか、さもなければ、一切実践しないでください。
