Havnt seen everyones but up there with them would be Jim Woods hybred on ducks ,massive pitches and onto around 60 plus mixed head of duck with one stoop ending in one teal dead ,one bouncing around with a brocken wing and a bind to a third ,yes three teal in one shot .
Antony Rhodes Jerkin and SAN his falcon are going well although San has been a little short of her best but would still impress most falconers.Ralf Watts ,Sirus and Wasp ,hybred and a tiercel peregrine ,WOW . Chris Southern has a very good Falcon ,Sam Rice has 2 good falcons ,Dave Goff has a great tiercel .
I can think of one or two others but one that comes to mind does very good pitches but wont stoop ducks or phesants , carries and is check mad so cant be added to the list.
Im sure there are others so dont be offended if they havnt got a mention

I have had the pleasure in witnessing both Sam Rice falcons Shadow, sorry forgot the other ones name in flight in pursuit of mallard on some of my land and what a privilege it was to witness as well....On both occasions Mallard was taken from a cracking stoop........

Matt Gage has a second season peregrine falcon (actually its part barbary) that is looking really tasty. It mounts to very high pitches in all weathers and has killed grouse, mallard, pheso's and partridges this year. Going to watch it fly for the last couple of days of the season . Can't wait.
I think next season it'll turn into a star. A very exciting hawk.
Its full brother a 07 eyas is right out of the same mould too.

hello there lads, been watching the forum now for a few months and think its about time i posted something (sorry mods if its in the wrong section). to start with, a little about myself.

im in my mid 20's and have been practising falconry 4 a few years now, (at least 10 i think!). i currently have a 2 year old gyr/saker (5/8ths) and unfortunatly he didint do well last year. but that was down to me as i had just bought my 1st house which knacked up my season. i have flown most of the commonly flown hawks and falcons used at present apart from a merlin and their hybrid, so i wouldn't say i was new to the game or an expert on any account. Anyway back to the thread,

i havnt seen any of the falcons or falconers mentioned so far so i cant comment on them, but i have seen phil myers' tiercel and falcon fly on numerous accounts and they are little crackers! i couldnt honestly say how high the falcon, ginty, goes because to be fair, she would need an altitude meter to get any accurate reading but im guessing any where from 900 to 1200ft. silly pitches really! and boy does she come down after the greys! i've witnessed impressions on the ground where the partridge has hit. Ouch!

The tiercel, ike, is also just as good. maybe not as high but consistant at around the 750 - 800 ft mark. and this little fella has the heart of a lion. put him over a pond and watch the magic happen. head shots on drake mallards, widgeon, teal.....the list goes on. a few weeks ago on a local pond i saw this little fella kill a drake pochard on the rise, stone dead. and i have the pics to prove it.

not only are these birds fantstic flyers but they are extreamly well mannered birds, anyone can approach them they do not bate at anything, they do not carry in the field and i havnt seen 1 of them fly at check in over 2 years.. they are a credit to their owner. i plan on getting a tiercel this year and if, in 3 years time, it turns out to be half as good as either of phils 2 birds then i will be one happy falconer.

all the best
craig

Hi Jeff
plenty of pheasants ducks and the odd partridge killed, from some very nice pitches from my pair,Lexy on average has been the higher flyer of the two with her mom still leading the way in game brought to the table, but I think Lex still has time to up her game on her mom over the next couple of seasons.

Am pleased for ya mate ,its good when your young falcon gets past the teachin stage. Grace has started to shine and is much like flyin her mother in her first 6 year or so. Her pitches arnt as high but blame myself for that but she is still doing very well and like Lex,dont think Iv seen the best of her yet.
Jeff

Jeff I haven’t seen Grace hunt but if she’s half as good as her mother she will be a decent falcon.

One of the best longwings in the country has got to be John Taylors male pere x saker, flying at 1lb 6 and 3/4.

It takes partridge, hen and cock pheasants (head shots) and mallard.

in the right conditions it specks out to 1000's of feet, literally out of human vision.

It also takes crows and small gulls off the fist in direct pursuit.

The bird can be gamehawked one day then crow hawked the next, it knows to wait on when it sees the dog on point.

Over the years (6 or 7 seasons), it has been lost for long periods and survives in the wild, no problem.

A proper Killer !!!
