Does anyone hunt egrets (cattle, and/or little egrets and/or just any type of egrets) off the fist with a falcon?

I know that GoshawtRST catches a few with his spar, but I seem to remember him saying that they are protcted, so he only takes them by accident. ;-)

Yeah, I read that in one of his threads.
Well, they seem to not be a popular quarry, Is this because they are protected in most places? In Scotland, Ireland, and GB are they protected?
We have loads of them here and from what I have read herons used to be hunted before they became protected.
Also In Falconry and Hawking he says herons are a very elusive quarry and were hunted with two peregrines. (Egrets are like small herons.)
I was thinking that they might be a good Quarry for lanners here.
I assume they would be hunted by a falcon flown off the fist?
I wonder if they would give flights like seagulls?(I would hunt gulls but we don't have any here).
Here is a pic.

Night herons are hunted here in Japan, and are seen to be a good bird for entering a young hawk. They fly slowly and make lots of noise upon flushing. HHs easily catch up to and mow one down.
The greater herons are the challenging ones. They actually defend themselves in the air, stabbing with the beak, regurgitating fish and shitting on persuit falcons. They can also open their wings and stop in mid-air to change direction. Not easy quarry, but I'd be pleased to take one, someday.
Here's apic of the Black-capped Night Heron. They tend to gather in flocks in the fall, making it all that much easier, IF you find them.

Sounds cool,
Do they take them with long wings also?

HAHA! This is Japan, mate. I don't think ANYONE catches anything with longwings. I plan to give it a go, though.

cattle egrets and night herons(smaller herons) are too easily caught by most falcons to me much sport. these birds are not fast and really have no escape move other than to take a big ****, barf up a fish and let go with a mighty sqwak before they get killed. oh and best of all they smell so bad i don't even flies will land on them. peregrines seem to like them for some reason, wild peregrines take them not irregularly.

I was think of more of a get the falcon entered and hnting and then fit and then move on to another quarry.
And if lanners cant take the crow/rook (Im not sure of that though) than you could still hunt them a little.
Trust me I wont be eating them, I have shot them before and know what there like.
