Well i finished work at 11am so i thought ! Out with the bird i think !
Well i was just planning on a good walk out with him and if we spot anything then fine. But when i got home i saw my nephew who was of school due to a teachers training day.
So while i got geordie weighed and sorted out he got the new ferret ready. Only the 2nd time out for this ferret so wasnt holding much hope. But they need to get used to working as a team so everything sorted and in the car and off we go.
We get to our location about 12.30 id spotted a fairly active warren about 3 days ago on the edge of the woods so seemed like a better place to start than any. I postioned myself and luke put the ferret down 5 mins / 10 mins nothing!!!!!!! The ferret was p*ssing about so the next time it came out we boxed it and moved to the next set of holes in the wood.
So in the ferret goes nothing again but this time i could see he was getting the jist of it ! in! out! straight back down working every hole.
So on to the next set ! I took a good position on the down hill slope above the holes. In the jill goes and straight away i heard it !!!! The noise you always love to hear. RUMBLE! Under foot! Geordies head is bobbing and weaving im shaking like a sh*teing dog with antisapation a quick rumble ! rustle of leaves and HO geordies off the fist.
Missed it by a cats c*ck hair back down another hole it goes. 2 mins later out it bolts HO! and were off ! 10mtrs if that and geordies all over it BANG talons and fur everywhere. I must admit i like to be very quiet in the field but i hear the echo of GET IN MY SON !!! bounce off every tree in the woods ! LOL So thats 1 to geordie. Made in and despatch it and let him have his fill ! Well i pull up a log to have a tab to settle my nerve. So by the size of him it looks like thursday till he gets his weight down as hes about as fat as a pavoroti sandwitch .
