We now have the new Brinsea Octagon 20 in stock, this incubator has many improvements on the old version including a very accurate digital controller for temperature and humidity on the EX model. New heating system and diffuser which removes any hot and cold spots. Plus it is extremely competitive in price compared to similar machines in the market such as the RCOM.
The old Octagon was a very popular machine in the falconry market and I am sure this new machine will build on that and give even better hatch rates.
For the latest prices please give us a call.

I've just seen one of these things and as far as i can tell it's just the same as the old one with the same problems as it as well.
On first inspection it's a nice machine but when you get own to technicalities it's quite a let down.
Turning = Exactly the same as the old system, which in my opinion was the biggest problem with the old oct 20 and causes malposition if you dont hand turn in conjunction with it.
Heating = This is the best new addition to the machine, however they have just bought it into the 21st century with set and display in stead of the useless digital thermometer the old one had.
The heating source has been changed from there omnitherm heater to a standar wire run element.http://www.falconryforum.co.uk/images/smilies/icon_neutral.gifwhy bother?
Egg tray = Exactly the same as before but without the little handles.
Humidity Control = Exactly the same as before either use the two moulded inserts inside the machine or, if you pay the extra £100.00 for the humidity system, you get the same system as the Pro used to have, but in a new mould with a water container included aswell (WoW).
Included with this new system is a small hard perspex pipe which you have to wangle (technicle term) through the first layer of the top, past the mains 230Vac connection for the element) and then through the second layer underside of the top. This pipe is not fixed in any way and in my opinion is dangerous, especially if you have any small children as if they pull this pipe when the machine is switched on, you run the risk of chucking water all over mains supply.http://www.falconryforum.co.uk/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
The actual cabinet of the machine is split into two sections and if you ask me runs the risk of splitting appart after a continuous use.
So to sum up, thanks Brinsea yet again for what is in my opinion another inferior machine.http://www.falconryforum.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif
I copied and pasted this info as the last one i did seems to have been removed....................?

Thank you for the comments, I tend to disagree with some of the information you put but if there is a debate to be had it should be in the general discussion area which is where the post got moved to I think.

I appologise for this as i did'nt reallise there were specific requirements as to where i post. I just saw the thread and thought id post my opinion as to try and give something to the forum.
I have been using incubators for many years and have a vast knowledge of electrical and electronic componants and theory's. If you would like a debate on my findings with this machine I would be more than happy to hear what youd have to say.

Hi Red Herring
Well all I can comment (and if you have specific technical issues I would address these to Brinsea) is that the incubator looks great, having looked at it myself and listened to Brinsea's technical director I think there are many improvements on the old version which has been the best selling incubator for years. The control system looks very tight and well calibrated, and I am certain the performance will surpass the old machine. Obviously all products have to go through a whole range of testing to comply with the law so if you have discovered something that is a issue I would contact Brinsea, I am not the manufacturer just a agent so I have no influence on there design.
The problem with incubators and there merits is largely based on opinion and one thing is certain is that this incubator is very well positioned in its class, if you need greater turning etc you need to look at the other machines that offer these functions. This machine is designed for hobby breeders in the main who breed poultry etc, but there are a huge number of falconers who use Octagon 20's and get perfectly good results, we are simply promoting the new version.
