Hi guys,
I just checked my weight records from my female HH and I realised that she flys 6 oz havier than last year. 24.01.04 1 lb 13.5 oz and
24.01.05 2 lb 3.5 oz.
Is it normal that the weight of the bird increases so much?
Do you think I could fly her next year even havier?

thanks Moritz

Give us a full picture of her weights and actions over the the last 2 weeks of Jan for 04 and 05 and her best hunting weights from this and last season and you might get a response that makes sense and is worth having. You're currently asking "how long is a piece of string?"

Just on face value I would say that if you have a FHH with a REAL flying weight of 1lb 13 1/2 and you now have her flying at 2lb 3.5 I would say she is overweight. If she is responding well at 2lb 3.5 I would say at 1lb 13.5 she was nearly dead!
As Bill says, there is no real answer to your question, are you talking about exact hunting weight? Was one a hunting weight and the other a rough flying weight? Are your scales ok? Etc etc............

I will post tomorrow the weights from last year and the past weeks.

24.01.04 was the day of her first kill and she was flying good. I don not think that she was to low, her muscles where well build and she could do 100 high jumps at that time. She had a very good respons to the fist and hunting was no problem.

I Just started with her training after 4 weeks of (17.01.05). She flies well and hunts. At the 24.01.05 she caught the woodcock I told you about. I don not think she is over weight.

I hope my scals a working fine, I check them every day with a 1/4 oz weight.

Thanks Moritz

blimmey Moritz that is a massive difference for a second season bird.
Like of that size.

i dont doubt your records but but you are talking a big difference. what was she when you took her up again at what i presume was a fat weight?

When I picked her up the first time in september 2003 her fat weight has 2lb 3 oz.

The fat weight this year 17.01.05 was 2 lb 6 oz.

Questions: No disrespect intended, sounds a bit much for a H/H, How old was-is bird? are you weighing bird the same way? Is your furnishings the same weight? checked your scale lately for zero? new bells maybe? I got smoked by my scale a year ago bad, I weigh all my new furnishing now because of different bell weights, garments, leather, swivels, etc. and check scale weekly for accurate. I found a 20 gram difference between two sets of furnishings. how sharp is her keel? just something to think about.

I use the same scale and the same equipent. I weight her with just the anklets on and I have not changened the model. The bell is the same like last year. She is a 2003 bird.
I have seen HH flying at havier weights. 2 lb 6 oz is the maximum of a m8s 5 year old female HH.
Her keel is not sharp at all.
I am starting to think that I just flew her last year far under her possible weights. She is my first bird to learn the right weight controll is not easy, but at least she is now at a good weight.

Thanks for youre replies.
