Oh ! Almost forgot to mention that we also breed superb HH's and to my knowledge, fairly large size birds, available in limited number each year.

We have now two breeding pairs to serve more and more demanding hawkers ! Again our birds are fed right from the start with fresh coturnix quails.

Here are some birds that we have bred or that are actually breeding for us

PS: Last pic is my best smile ever

...and because I'm so ugly, I don't want my bird to be sick on me

I always like my birds to be fly from horse back to be made to the hood well.

Nice smile.
Dan, can I give you a call over the weekend?

Anybody seen this...a 13th tail feather..and it's white and black :-| This is a new female I got for my other needs, other than breeding purposes, and I thought it could be related in a diluted hybridize remaining stuff, what do you think ? :supz:

Check out the tail on our harris/harlans red-tail hybrid Dan. Looks like the arrows point the opposite way on the markings though. Not that I think it means your bird isn't 100% harris, probably just a fluke!
I think it looks kind of cool on your bird, especially it being right in the centre.

Hi Dan,
Neat picture. I think or know that your hawk is pure. Very few harris hybrids out there. I have a male here that exhibit's the same characteristics due to a deck feather loss as well. I think it is probable lack of kerotine (sp wrong I know) in a replacement feather. It takes a large amount of energy to replace them, especially at weight or in non-pro-photo-molt-periods, therefore lack of pigment.

Nice picture Helen Even though it seems similar the harlen/harris hybrids tail is a completely different thing,....more a compilation of two feather pattern overtypes.

But who knows,.....maybe recesively (buried genetically) the harris has some accipter in it,...they ain't called para-buteo's for nothing. Nice,...Pictures,...and that as well of the horse plowin through 4 feet of snow,.....beautiful. I see it is cold back there right now,...take care.

Sincerely,
Ben Wallace

Where'd you get that hood?

Justin

Dan Paradis
21-02-2008, 05:00 PM
Sound and true Ben that is the most probable answer I beleive :supz:

Helen.. nice bird you got there !

Yann.. ±1200gr but she's not at fat top weight. A nice size female indeed. Tell us about yours on your section if you want (trhead called Hello Yann...):supz:

Justin did we not supposed to speak to each other by phone ? Tell me what you need or wish to have from me by PM :supz:

The hood is a pattern that Ken Hooke kept back for me because I need an easy to put and remove hood when I ride from horses. Ken no longer offers those kazhak hoods to regular falconers as one should not leave its bird with that hood on unattended (I think it's the reason),, it is a field hood you see

Oh I know its a different thing for the harlans/harris tail compared to this feather, it's just that particular picture of the hybrid jumped to my mind after seeing the pic of Dan's bird! I wasn't posting it to "compare" the birds to insinuate hybridization, just that picture of the hybrid was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the pic of Dan's bird!

By the way Dan, is this striped feather still growing in, or is it shorter than the rest permanently?

Hello Bob ! did you flew that bird ? So she's called Miss's Earp 13" now

She is a very steady bird not agressive at all to compare with my other females...exactly what I wanted for demos.

Cheers !

Winter has been so mild this year that my Harris's are already copulating since last week... ! it is going to be the first time I see this...the first to lay are the Sakers normally in my neck of the woods.

That's crazy, a whole month and a half early! Well, maybe it means you can get an extra clutch out of them.
I actually don't have a bird anymore, I gave him to another falconer since I won't have time for him this year. It looks like I'm going to have to content myself with following Edith and Yann around this year! It remains to be seen if I can stay sane without a bird :supz:
