Hi Saker Mad

I wouldnt reccomend imprinting a hybrid for AI!

Personally i cant see the point unless its a Gyr/Sak?

I would look towards a peregrine, at least then you'll have some different directions to head in when it comes to breeding.

I normally start imprinting from the moment they come out of the brooder, so 7-10 days is norm.

Nick fox has an excellent range of video's out at the moment and two in the range deal specifically with imprinting and AI.

Im sure another member will give you a link?

Is that a male or female pere/saker?

Like Varmint says, why a Hybrid? All you will be doing is watering down the cross. Thats if she even turns out to be fertile. You are better off with a pure bred bird, a Pere or Saker then you have a choice of Pere/Saker, Gyr/ pere, Gyr/Saker etc, etc.

i was going to use the pere/saker as a trial run so to speak if all went well with her then i would move on to a pere or a saker we all gota start somewhere

Go for it Saker, you still got to get rid of the young though. I've never tried it myself, I'd love to one day! Pere/Lanners I recon.

i know nothing about A.I or infact breeding birds of prey but i know one thing always aim high my mate, and don't settle for that "we gotta start some where" follow the advice and start from the start and dont cut corners, best of luck with your breeding project saker, and dont forget the apple never falls far from the tree so keep all your breeding lines tight.

It is easy to get sak/pere eggs firtile but getting them out is a joke. The eggs are small and either die on the way or die at pip.Forget it ,getting females to lay is a dodle but semen is the key so I would suggest you get a tiercel or better still forget it all together. You need semen ,eggs ,incubators, brooders ,candlers and time.Unless you are comitted forget it

cheers mate it would seem its not worth the hassle one thing i have is time and comitment

What about flying your imprint pere/saker and hold of breeding untill you can afford all the necassary things???

my female didnt lay so thats put a damper on things anyway my neibour decided to have a bonfire so that upset her having her avery filled with smoke then english nature decieded to cut some treees down but never mind there allways next year at least the reds have a young one and the harris are on eggs so not a complete loss one pair hariis were actually copulating during the bonfire escapade just goes to show there not much horneyer than a harris hawk

If you want to set off on the AI road, don't wast time on a hybred how ever nice they are to fly.Get a tiercel peregrine, find GOOD stock as if you put anything to anything you'll have problems selling them as more and more falconers are looking for quality, proven stock and rightly so.
Imprint a tiercel this year and a female next year and get an incubator the year after,I'll list the things you need at the end off this.
Fly both of your imprints, you'll have fun EVENTUALLY flying them ,the tiercel sooner than the falcon and they make better breeding birds and you will be able to give an honest answer to people on how the ''parants '' fly when they enquire about your eventual eyases.Or you could tell lies and end up feeling and looking like a pleb as the falcon breeding world is small and if you produce **** it will soon get about.
Without patting myself on the back,I had a hard time getting both quality falcons and quality info. on AI but now take orders from upto 3 years prior eyases hatching and touch wood don't advertise ,don't need to and tend to be choosie who they go to.Unexperianced have no chance as I put to much time into producing them for a novice to learn from and if I did it for the money I think I would have lost the plot as I think very highly of my peregrines .
I will soon produce hybreds (gyr x pere) and they are for money and admit to that as I have no interest in flying one exept a female at geese.
Things you will need for AI are:- Inubator x 2 (wet & dry)
candeler
hatcher
brooder
Pipet for AI
epindorfs (for semen storage)
microscope slides and slips
A HUGE BOX OF VALLIUM(it will come clear why)

i was going to take a female out of the clutch this year

You will be extremely lucky if you get any eggs to hatch from this hybrid female. Dont bother.....

As already advised try a pure female Pere or if you want a hybrid the Gyr/Saker or maybe Pere/Barbary.

Cheers
