Thanks for the warm welcome folks!

If there are any of you who want to talk about fly fishing I might be able to help. I've been kicking around fishing lodges for awhile and learned a few things from some pretty keen guys and gals that I'd be more than happy to pass along. If nothing else, we can tell lies to each other!

Cheers;
Bill

Below is a decent brook trout...(if you're into this sorta thing:rolleyes:....its one of the ones I bothered to put in the IGFA world record books).

welcome to the iff Bill

Thanks mate! I've had great luck with some welsh anglers who became friends...good people!
Here's a welshman and one of the large salmon he landed. Needless to say he is an annual guest now...lol.

Welcome Bill - I am afraid that it is my mum who is interested in fly fishing more than me, but she has seen some amazing sights - such as an osprey catching a fish only feet away from her!

I am guessing that you also see some wonderful things, along with catching tasty fishes? :D

Thanks Guys!;

It would be nice to make a few new friends that both enjoyed falconry and would like to wander our Newfoundland rivers hunting large salmon. Fishing in the morning, falconry in the afternoon, fishing in the evening, then relax with a drink and hear the stories of the day over a fillet steak......life doesn't get any better. Season starts June 1st and ends Oct 7th.

Here's a chap from England that visited twice...think he took 3 or 4 over 20 pounds....this one is about 30 pounds.

:supz: Nice catch! I have never fly fished, but would love to try it out sometime....Unfortunatly, I haven't done much of any fishing in the last few years. My Ex-inlaws had several lake houses where I used to fish for catfish, bass etc.......sadly, that is one of the biggest things I miss about my ex......:roll::lol:
Anywho, what kind of fish are you typically seeing up there?

You really should get someone to take you out fly fishing.....its addictive. Not sure what part of Texas you're in but I am sure they have lots of stuff you can fly fish for in both fresh and salt water.:idea:

The island of Newfoundland has very few game fish species. Hugh sea run browns 5 to 20 pounds...and a couple even up to 26 to 30+ pounds are landed each year in a short window of time in the spring. The there is Atlantic salmon, Brook Trout, and Arctic Char and thats it.

The mainland portoin of our province (ie Labrador) has a few more game species and you can add to the list above: lake trout, pike, burbot...but thats it. While we don't have a lot of variety...we do have a lot of the species we do have.

Cheers;
The Newfie

Thanks Dan:heart:;
Am very busy already but would make some room during peak dates for a falconer/fly fisher. Might be buying a lodge up north that will need some anglers and the peak weeks will be open to public consumption at the start of it....but once they see what's there it will be full of repeat guests for sure.

Nice fish pictures,
I do like fishing as well. We have some nice salmon on the west coast too.
Here is a 32 pound Chinook caught last summer in Pt Renfrew. I think our pacific coastal record is 76 pounds. Woulda bin a heavy pull in. Keep the fish pictures coming.

Sincerely,
Ben Wallace

Wow Ben...nice fish....I seen some pictures of a fish not much bigger than that from Loch Ness and some guys were suggesting it weighted 100 pounds and was 50 inches in girth!...raoflol...think they were using a rubber tape..it was adandy fish of about 40+ pounds though.
