I was curious to know how many breeders producing: goshawks, sharpies & merlins ect. actually provide the nest verses letting the birds build the nest.

Thanks,
David

Varmint,

When you say a box, do you mean a closed in box with an small opening or 1/2 a box with the top missing. I have a pair of merlins that I am hoping will breed. I have place a old crow nest in there but was curious to see what other were using.
Thanks,
David

The box's are approx 2 ft long, 1 foot wide and 1 1/2 foot tall.

The roof overhands slighly and i mount them so that the box has half the front covered (bottom) so that the bird can land on the entrance (astro turf) and drop down slightly inside to their scrape.

This lip also helps to keep squabbling eyass's in the box and off the floor below.

Varmint,

Thanks for the information. I may try & build one and give them another option to use.
