Do you think she might have done that damage on the first impact? She looks to have had to come round again to pick it up or why the leg lift??

i did notice but knowing absolutely nothing about these birds i thought it may have been a slash by the bird :oops:
if you look closely there is a little thread and blobs of blood just to the side of the cut that is why i thought it was just fresh.

Both of the photographers involved here are very profficient photographers of birds. The description before you view the pictures says the damage to the neck was done by the peregrine.
Excellent photos......the only downside is that there were two photographers there, and by the looks of it, neither one of them caught any pictures just prior to, or the actual impact itself.......what a bummer!

Don't I know how frustrating that can be..........aaaggggggggghhhhhhhhh

Great pics. I think it hit it in the head then came back around. If you look in the second and third pics you can see the blood dripping from the head, and a head wound in pics 2,3, and 4.

Went and read the discription and the peregrine did get a head shot.
