I woas wondering if any one knows of : gyr@onetel.com

I have tried ONGOING to contact a Guy Called Mark who breeds BOP.

I hear tell he is a very secretive creature at best and like most people who breed asks a few questions when selling a bird to you which is healthy for the sport and welfare.
However their is a point when this the questions get a bit choice and it seems personell!!

I have tried to get a price on a bird i would like to purchase and he would not tell me and was very cagy and given i dont know him it seemed to me to get very personell.

So very quickly said no point contiuing the conversation before words were exchanged!

I am fullly aware that some breeders can be like this for security but this was behond the relms of reason and i feel he lost a potential customer be it not very important i suppose when you run an outfit like his.

But i feel this was uncalled for and elt very uncomfortable , i hope he does not treat all his customers this way??

Has anyone had this problem with him?


I mean no bad feeling but i felt this was well out of order!!

Dont take it personal Tim. Can you imagine all the phone calls he gets from timewasters every week (and no I dont mean you lol). He has tens of thousands of pounds worth of birds at his place and even more out on hack so he's bound to be cagey. I think most of his birds go to UAE so he doesn't have a lot to sell here anyway.

Mr Robb, doesnt even sell many of his birds!

He breeds some of the best Gyrs and Peregrines that come out of this country.

He doesnt go out there looking for customers, they find him as was your case Timberdog?

At this time of year, he doesnt even know what he'll have in the season, i bet he said to give him a ring in July? he's a bit of a hermit, not up his own ass.

Some of you guys might find it hard to believe but he dosent need, nor want your business?

If truth be told, his stuff is so good you should be dancing to his tune, cause you wont touch the birds from anyone else, once you've flown some of his stuff!

Its unfortunate Guys, but i can vouch for the sort of calls this guy will get 24/7 and it does get on your nerves a bit?

He's a commercial breeder, and wants to sell Gyr's , the hybrids are often a by product he sells thru secondary agents.

If you wait a bit, say until April/May many of the hybrid breeders will know what they have and be only too happy to take your order

No offense mate but your right he dont sell many of his birds he is hardly likely to with his attitude to business and people!

He prob-ally does breed the best Gyrs etc but not to the likes of us commoners!

Yes i did find him but didn't get a response i set at someone at his level and i hope he does not treat his other customers in the same way does not seem to be good business ethics to me.. but hey he has thousands..so, hey I'm a **** in the pond your right but this does not give him the right to be offensive to ANYONE!.

I do believe he does not want my business and i am glad i know now as he was dam right rood and no matter how big and how good his birds are no one in my books should talk to people like that and TREAT OTHERS AS THEY TREAT YOU!.

And as for Dancing to his tune if i did i would be dancing the Jig...which i do for no one i have pride and I'm not about to lick ass for someone who is up is own ASS!! , Well they say success buys you no happiness!..

I will put it down to experience and not recommend him when asked ..but hey he don't need the business eh.. :D .

But the only experience i had was a bad one but hey my money is still in my pocket not his!


Never mind ya move on eh and learn perhaps not to be so polite and suffer fools gladly!!!

Its falconry mate. You will come across more then one breeder like this. you know what its like when someon thinks they are the dogs nuts (and may be they are) they get up there own ass'.

as varmint says he does not need the buisness here the birds are produced for the arab world of falconry.im a close friend of mark & he gets so many calls from idiots when a genuine person rings he may think you are another timewaster.just the other day a person phoned on a price for white gyr peri only a handfull are bred by him so they are expensive the chap thought he would pay £300.SO DO U BLAME HIM!

So Tlm, you see, its nothing personal, just the way people have to be sometimes to sort the serious buyers from the timewasters. The worst thing to do is ring a reputable buyer and ask how much! Breeders Like Mark Robb, breed the best birds you can buy so anyone questioning price, before quality or breeding, is going to get a frosty reception.

Hey Tim,

Being that my main source of income is retail based, I can't agree with you more about the attitude problem here. No one diserves this kind of treatment.

I live in an area where the customers are the rude ones and I can't say anything back. If I say anything, guess what, no more job.

So to me there are no excuses for rude treatment from either side.

Even still I must go back and face another day. The only thing I can say is, try to let it go and have a good time with those of us on here that value your company and advice.
