Hi All

Just picked up another male pere/saker from a friend (05 bird), now loose and getting him fit.

Only problem is, he comes in at about 6 inches off the ground and I haven't yet seen him above 30ft. To crown it all today, he takes in a fence. (No major damage).

Anyone any experience of this and what to do to rectify this?

Next port of call is the kite, which will be out in the next breeze and I also have some ground that is particularly hilly. Will it be enough to keep him up?

Thanks for your help.

Take him to an area with some lift and let him enjoy flying to start with. Getting my falcons to get up has involved rewarding with the lure on the occasions they went any higher than usual, its all about timing of the reward. Sitting on a fence could be due to lack of fitness, no lift or perhaps turbulence, downdraught etc. There is a lot involved, and it will depend on whether you are prepared to fly him to a swung lure, or are you trying to create a gamehawk? How long have you been flying him? fitness takes time, and proper use of the lure will be vital, in a country that does not allow baggies.
