I remember on a parrot forum that one person was trying to get a pair of macaws (the big purple hiacynth(sp) to breed. The birds were interested in each other but had no clue.

So they showed the birds a video of a pair of hyancinth 'doing it'. It worked.

Probably would also work for raptors too. :-P

Birdy porn as a breeding tool!!!!

Um, did you just get one chick from the Red Tail pair I see in the picture? Simple question, I think. Bad day, Dan?

Just one survived, should of said...two hatched out out of three fertile eggs and the stonger killed the other once back in the nest with parents. It does happened because of cain an able syndrome and when the parents leave the hood open for too long a time...if I want to have lots of eggs and chicks I have to buy chickens !

There is not much RT's available by breeders to compare to easier to breed HH's and in numbers of eggs per clutch

No I'm not sad Justin I'm use to this now and I use foster ferrugs to raise others RT's of the second clucht you see

Dan

Oh I just got the meaning of your post Justin...no no I'm not having a bad day it is worst than that,, I'm french canadian and have not all that sense of words or expressions in english you see ! must be your japaneese accent

PMSL! You'll be alright with a few foster birds. Foster HHs wouldn't hurt, either.

Tina says she's starting on dumb bell weight training to perch that beast on her fist! 10 days of paddling a canoe in August will help a little.

Dan, its not Justin's Japanese accent...its the Newfie mixed with the Japanese!

Justin and Dan....the rabbits (aka varying hares) seem very thick this year and are likely still increasing in density...breeding season now and they are dead all over the roads everywhere (mostly distracted males that were chasing females....lol).

We sure hope to do you proud Dan and make one hell of a hare murder outta her!

Dan Paradis

Dan, I know you don't have a weight of the chick, but any idea of the parents weights? Just wondering how big the red-tails are up that way!

Dan Paradis
28-05-2008, 03:50 AM
FauconPhilou, IFF member, is flying one male I bred at around 1000gr. I do not recall what was the female's weight though but they are bigger than the westerners that is for sure

Dan

Ok, sounds a lot like what we have here in the southeast! My male flys at about that same weight. You hear about these monster red-tails that come from up North, but I think the entire east coast has the same size birds, you just find big ones scattered throughout the whole east. And yeah, the western birds are definately smaller, there is no doubt about that.

Dan Paradis

...the big monsters and the subspecies are in the same bag IMO
