Gyr-RNS are cracking birds. Fast and aggressive I am told. They are quite popular with some falconers in the Gulf as well.

hi if you are trying to breed from 3/4 gyr x rednaped shaheen you maybe wasting your time out crossed falcons have low fertility and the females seldon lay fertile eggs.

Putting the Red napped x Gyr semen into a Red nape will work. Steve Baptise made white Red naped cross and then made 3/4 Gyr x 1/4 Red Napes they were all very nice. That was 20 years ago.

Thank you for this information. How did they fly? Agressive? As curious as the rns ?

For some reason,....gyr crosses with the so called desert falcons (barbary, RNS,.....and even lanner) seems to have higher fertility than the larger peregrine subspecies (which have pretty much proven infertile,......no on has really tried a female 3/4peregrine1/4 gyr though) .
I have heard of female 50/50 gyr/barbaries producing young (was substantiated) and as well have gyr/lanner 50/50 and 3/4 that produce young. I would think that he has a good chance of success. Please post a picture of the production of this cross?!?! Good luck Sokol,.......would be a killer falcon to fly!!!
Sincerely,

I do not think the 3/4 females are that fertile. Steve Baptise told me he tried crossing his back but they never took.
My old Peregrine x Gyrfalcon produced one year a very large 3/4 Gyr and she went on to make only birds when Peregrine semen was put in her. When they tried the Gyr it never took:rolleyes:
