I am just enquiring to see if anyone has any plastic barrels they do not want. I am after the barrels to make up some feeders. Please get in touch if you can help.

Cheers Joe

Joe just spoke to a man here and he says use the metal ones rather and they have found the squirrels chew through the plastic ones.

They get them new from a supplier down here for about £4 if you are interested I can try get you the number or alternatively he says look for used ones:wink:

HTH?

Thanks Paul, I have a few feeders down at the moment and have not had any problems with squirrels(yet) lol. I can get hold of some but I am looking for around 30-40 more. I could do with them not being as far as where you live though as my juice guzzling surf would make the cost of them horrendous.

Thank

Joe

I can always bring them to you mate and that will cost you nothing except for some land to work the dog for the day? I should be able to get a fair few in the old 54 mpg estate:)

Get mine from a sauce factory local to me mate, they are chutney barrels c/w lids, can also put a template in to make it easier to cut the legs, we use 3 to each drum or you can hang them, springs for the bottom are about £1 ea and available via most game suppliers etc.
I am going up the M1 next week, if you can meet up I could get 15 in the jeep for you.

Joe i always used the square plastic 5 gallon containers mate with a 1/2" wide by 3/4" high slit cut out at the bottom corner, u can do all 4 corners or just 2, they are more awkward to fill, but far better at keeping water out(the small top keeps water out much better), they can be found on farms, many treatments and liquids come in them, just be sure to wash them properly..cut the hole on the bottom side, and not the very underneath, the feed is easily tapped out by the pheasants, and i always tie them high enough so woodies cant reach...colin

Anyone needing blue barrels to make feeders....find your local bus depot....they have vehicle washing fluid delivered in them and are always glad to get rid for nowt.
