Let the dogs out before bedtime, and they were gonna nuts in the garden. Thought it mighta been a hedgehog, but something made me check the birds. Switched the light on and Norma was on the floor, unusual. And then at the end, was a big f***** polecat with Squeek on the floor. Dont know how long it had her, but i dont think she will make it. Shes sat on my knee now, and i think im gonna put her to sleep.
To say im gutted is an understatement, im not embarrased to say i been crying like a baby. She was the only bird i have that i trained from weeks old.
Will take her tomorrow and bury her where she caught her first crow.

Yeh, i understand the polecats only doing what it needs to survive, but if hadnt went out when i had it woulda went on a killed the others. Anyway, it got the message with a scalpel, columbian neck tie style.

Hi Rob, sorry to hear about your loss mate, terrible shame, as a young boy i lost a male kestrel the same way, only they were in an aviary in fact it was one killed of a breeding pair, the mesh was 2x2 [inches] i lined it the next day with smaller mesh, ferrets, stoats, and mink are a real threat with larger mesh, on a diferant note , i have trapped 2 foxes in 7 days behind one of the rows of aviarys, when we are nice and cosy in the house watching james bond who knows whats moving about looking for food in the dead of night, chin up mate, cheers, mark.
