Hi All

Anyone have any views or experience on getting your harris to slope soar. I have plenty slope and a fit harris, but can't keep her up there for any length of time.

I've tried serving her just as she comes overhead and have called her back as she turns to try to keep her up, but she doesnt seem to mind hopping along the hill for 20 or 30 yds at a time. Don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that she hasn't vbeen entered on feather yet.

I knows as a buteo she ain't gonna act like a longwing, but its always nice to see them up there.

Any info, views?

Cheers

Hi Gareth,

Have you thought about using a kite, (from people who have tried it would it help???)

I haven't used one before but have been thinking about it.

What does everyone else think?

I've tried HH on the kite, they're cr4p. They are too clever, once they have done it a couple of times they get bored and wait for the wind to drop. They wouldn't go above 50ft either.

I agree with H4wka tried it , binned it.

The secret in the early stages is the hill you train on, got to be prefectly wind facing, no cross wind and it helps if its a bowl.

Good excersise in the early stages is to start at the bottom and get her to follow you to the top each day, rather than the other way round, but the hill and wind are pivotal to your success.

She'll learn how to throw out into the wind and wind back round onto the face higher up.

Several days later if the hill and wind are right,i guarentee she'll stay on the wing, but it doesnt happen properly overnight.

Once up there, you know what to do for position ect, being eneterd on feather or not wont make any difference anyway and in the early stages of waiting on, you dont want ground with any game or check.

Let us know of your progress?
