Hi all, a little time ago I saw a interview about a man from brazil that has some birds of prey, heīs not a falconer. he lives in a farm and raise his birds almost like a pet, they donīt eat meat, they donīt kill any of animals of the farm as rabbits, chickens and some others that I donīt remember. His name is Percilio and i became impressed about that.........what do you think about it?
Iīll see if i can get more informations...

I know a vegitarian who wont feed her dog any meat products?
She might have a free consience, but i bet the dogs not too impressed!
Wonder what would happen if you gave it the choice?

seems strange, how can you feed birds a non meat diet? i can just imagine waving a brussl sprout infront of of a red-tail and losing an eye to a very ****ed off bird.

Jeez, I've met a few tree hugging muppets that think they can persuade the whole world to go vegetarian, but thats the first time I've heard of someone pushing their thoughts or beliefs onto the rest of the animal kingdom.
I know of people that are vegetarian, some that are vegan, that force their children into being the same. My attitude is, when the kids are old enough, they will make their own EDUCATED choice. But why deprive them of foodstuffs that they 100% need when they have no choice in the matter.
Same goes for the birds.

Lucky.

interesting topic:) i remember doing a display with my birds klast year and a guy came up and asked to feed my snowy owl chocolate, i of course refused to allow him to do so explaining they can only eat raw meat, he wandered off and came back with a cooked burger and asked me if i would allow the bird the choice of eating it, i again told him no and that it wasnt part of the birds diet and i was subjected to alot of verbal abuse regarding the fact i dont allow the birds freedom of choice, that they only eat traw meat as i bring them up on raw meat. he then proceeeded to hang around most of the afternoon watching them and preaching about god and his way. it was a long day for me and im sure my birds too.
Amen to that sister.
Does anyone use Heinz Tomato Ketchup on their offerings? Seems to work on the TV Advert. :tonqe:

It was very confused, the birds didnīt try to kill neither the chickens nor the rabbits, and they follow that man all the time making good flies or in his arm(i donīt remember if he used gloves on it)

Bit off thread but did anybody ever see an old walt disney documentary about the guy with the Imprint Goldie?
She who laid egg after egg and finally he gave some goose eggs to sit which she hatched, great footage of her in a giant bath pan, bathing with several goslings floating around her!
I was amazed that she fed a reared them on meat?
Also, bird coming in off the soar to attack his son, ****ed myself

Last year there was a certain falconry centre near here who gave a European eagle owl a duck egg which she hatched. She fed it scraps of meat and looked after the thing really well! Don't know the whole story, what happened when the broodiness wore off!!! Maybe if the person is on the forum they can elaborate - interesting!
