View Full Version : Do any dogs do?
My cousin has asked me would i want to have her 3 year old siberian huskey. Its well mannered dog and the only reason she is getting rid of it is because theres a young child in the house and shes afraid instead the kid plays with the dog to ruff one day. I was just wondering if these would make good hawking dogs. would they be able to find and mark sets and things? or should i just tell her no thanks

itīll depend of how much about training dogs do you know. If youīre really good and had other experiences with dogs I donīt see any problem but if youīre new with them itīs better to get one before it is one year old.
I know a little about dogs, siberian huskey isnīt a pointer dog but he has a good inteligence and i donīt see problem and use it in any work. younger you get it less harder the work you will have.

Id tell her no thanks, no matter how good a dog trainer you are this breed is totally unsuitable for the sport.
I love Huskies, prob because they remind me a lot of their wild cousins, but their instinct's are very different from most breeds, my advise would be to speak to the Husky club and any of their members? i think they will agree
If that doesnt convince you, take it along to ground where there is game and see what happens, but better stick a transmitter on its collar just in case

Only thing is with Huskies, once they run, they keep running.
Shame, don't think the Huskies would harm kids, they use dogs like that, and the Akitas as babysitters! They do get protective over the kids though!
cheers, maybe ill leave it lol
