I am a student of a falconry course in Flandres Belgium and we have to make some objects for our jury.
I will make a dutch hood (blocked) and i have made real nice once already.
But i have a problem with my pattern, it seem that it will not fit the block that i bought.
I asked my teachers what the problem could be.
They didn't know.
My question is , when a hood is blocked on the block. Wet.
Will it in open or closed position ?
Thanks in advance

Johan

Hi,

You block a hood in the open position - hope this helps!

if the hood will close around the block,, then the block is probably too small for the pattern,,
when you turn the hood "right side out" and start stretching the wet hood over the block,, the foreheab and eye sockets, are usually a very tight stretch, and at first dont even seem like it will ever fit,, this is the typical experience i have,,,
did the pattern come with the block when you purchased it?
also,, this sounds like a good falconry school
i would like tro hear more about the program,,

The pattern comes with the block but in my opinion its a little to small on the forfront and a little to big at the back.
If i have a picture i will put it here.

I will tell you from the course when i have translated all the themes.
I can tell you already that we have 32 saturday mornings lessons from 4 hours and that for two years. 64 mornings in total.
The first year becomes more theoretical and the second year we started with a young bird more practical. Till we have hunting with our bird. Now the huntingseason is over we have to make a demo with the birds.
I will tell more later, because my english is not that well.

Greetings
Johan
