Accipiter freak. Let me just say that you mentioned you were lobbying the Taiwanese government to allow falconry. A truly noble cause. Then you show up on here with videos of your friends illegally flying illegally trapped peregrines, on youtube, available for any "anti" in Taiwan to look at. You've even created a direct link to yourself if anyone in the Taiwanese govt is willing to ask who you are.
Nicely played, mate. You're not helping your cause, at all. Keeping that stuff off the internet, instead of showing it off for all to see would help your "lobbying" efforts. You're also hurting the few good falconers that are trying hard to fly birds well in Taiwan. Imagine if this is on the news next week in Taiwan. I live in Japan, and I know exactly who you are, so the Taiwanese journalists shouldn't have any trouble.

Don't worry m8, the falcons are both registered, and the baggy pigeons are not wildlife. So, base on our regulation it is totally legal. It is similar to Japan, where you live right now. I am not showing off. As I have mentioned, it was my friends who did their best to train and fly their falcons under legal conditions. I don't take any credit from it. I have asked my friends permission before I posted here. I think this forum is a great place for falconers from different countries to get together and learn from each other. And the clips are just like other Taiwanese falconers that have post here before (go to search on the top bar and look for Taiwan). We want people in the international falconry community to know falconry is still alive in Taiwan. Almost every raptor related folks in Taiwan know who I am. I have a Chinese web site that every body can visit and read what I am lobbying. I think I should thank you for your advice. It is all for the good of fellow falconers. I totally agree with you that showing off illegal stuff will damage falconry. By the way, could you collect and translate the Japanese falconry related regulations into English for me, since you live there? Japan is a country that our government copy a lot. Oh, how do you know me? Did we meet before? I was hawk watching in Hokkaido for about 10 days in 1998 before I went to the Asian Raptor Research and Conservation conference in lake Biwa Museum near Kyoto. Anyway, it is nice to have some one from far away place that care about our little humble falconry community.

i think its not so critical,,
first off ,, i doubt anybody of any consequence in taiwan is reading this forum,,
secondly,, i wasnt even aware that i was watching poached birds, or anything of the sort,,
and most of all,,
these are the diehard falconers,, the guys who would do it whether it was easy or not,, whether its legal or not,,
these guys are far less the criminal in my eyes, than many of the licensed persons who keep birds for pets,,,,
maybe they will never get legal falconry in taiwan,,,
maybe they are better off to take the risk, and pay the fines if they are caught,,
maybe they can pay off an official whenever its needed,,,
whatever it takes ,, some guys are gonna always keep up the faith,,
hats off to those guys

oh yah, I took them down. I didn't know the clips would disturb CanadaManada so much! I just want to help legalize falconry in Taiwan. To start an argument has never been in my agenda. There are many fabulous falconry clips on youtube already. Let's go back to focus on legal issues.

WOW! Check out the pull on me!
I'm surprised you took them down if as you say the birds are registered and your friends are doing nothing wrong.

ha! I think you are the one that can teach me something about fighting the antis!! I know SoCa, or should I say the coastal area is a stronghold of animal right groups. What’s your tactics? You should share some story with me.

i think that animal rights groups represent much less obstacle to falconry than is generally thought,,
today we have so much scientific data proving that falconry has no negative impact on any species,,, and that falconers have contributed to the comeback of the peregrine and so many other birds of prey,,,
that it really doesnt take much to convince antis , that falconry is an important institution, and that as a matter of conservation,,its presence has been more positive than negative,,,
truthfully, i have stayed off the radar for most of my life,,
and i still socialize with very few people,, fly my birds alone,,
and dont advertise by flashing my bird for attention,,,
if my neighbors know i have falcons,, its because they are nosey and peek through the fence,,
when i carry my bird from the car, to the house,, or from the house to the weathering area,,,,i carry my bird hooded, close to the body,,and,at about waist level,(not walking around with my hand held up like im gonna cast her off),,,,
i like keeping it to myself,,
the last thing i want is some kid in the neighborhood trying to imitate me,lol
