Hi, As an equipment manufacturer with over 40 years experience and a saddler of some 30 + years experience & also ex motorcycle racer , therefore being fully aware of the qualities of Kevlar, carbon fibre light alloys etc. I was made aware of this product(*Excalibur Gloves) about a year ago. On the presumption that this is the glove has a 'kevlar' inner layer I very much doubt it has any use , apart from being as a sales 'pitch' . Kevlar has great lateral strength in the weave, however it will not stop a 'puncture wound' therefore in this case I would strongly recommend a best buckskin glove from one of the reputable suppliers.
Hope this helps

I contacted them and got a response and here it is for all to see, I must say it sure sounds good and would be a revolutionary turn around in falconry for all to see.
The glove itself is manufactured by a leading company who supplies hypodermic needle proof gloves for the health service and protective clothing for the armed forces
so the Kevlar is not a gimmick as stated on your site. It was and is a genuine attempt to action a potential problem during the course of our annual health and safety check .
As I had identified a potential problem I was legally and morally bound to attempt a solution under health and safety legislation. I have done that by developing the EXCALIBUR glove It has been on test in the centre for two years now and has been a great success they are used all day every day wear well and up till now have provided 100% protection. And I can guarantee I have used the best materials in combination available in order to achieve a solution Buck skin or any other natural fibre will not cut it.
I have fulfilled an obligation to current legislation. This was not developed with falconry in mind but the little gnomes in Brussels. Even so its a bloody good glove.

Barry Gibbs.

Barry ,I hope you don't think I was being confrontational, I wasn't. Whilst being sceptical of new products I am happy to embrace new products & materials, & while I have not come across these gloves personally( hypodermic needle proof gloves, or the EXCALIBUR glove) as stated before I have extensive knowledge of Kevlar, however this could of course have been woven in a way / method that I am not aware of.
does the glove compromise comfort at all?
wishing you the best with sales of the EXCALIBUR glove
regards
J

I think all new products, due to the nature of our sport, will have those that will challenge efforts of improvement, but this can be a good thing.
Lets hang in a see it first and as and when the tests come in we will find out, I am more than willing to give it ago! Anyone else?

the centre is literally TWO mins from my house so if anyone wants one of these i will have a look at them if you wish.
Just a matter of interest Barry is it yourself that wants to set up an NVQ type qualification for ALL falconers (no matter how experienced)based on your own format (which i have seen ) and hoping your centre will become the national focal point for such a scheme?
I know it was related to your place but was it you or your predicessor?
( ps i have had gloves from most manufacturers and never felt the need to us kevlar.......mind you i dont have a Harpy unlike atomics pic  )
atomik if they dont ship to portugal i'll get it and send it over to you.

Bubo, I tought you were in Belgium... :)
i am in belgium guys but i have my entire family in the uk so i would ask for them to go to their addy then i'll get them from my mum and send them on!! simple hehehehe. i know just how annoying it is when you want something and it is only the shipping that prevents you from getting it!!
