Here are some photos of my recent vacation to Montana to attend the winter field meet in Roundup. the pictures include photos of an imprint white jerkin, a passage and imprint gyr falcons and my tiercel gyr/pregrine hybrid. There's been a 7 year drought in South Eastern Montana, so the sage grouse were vary scarce. The highlight for me was when my hyrid slammed the very first sharp-tailed grouse he ever saw. The sharpie slipped away when my bird tried to grab it on the ground after knocking it in to the sage.
...but it was a great introduction to how difficult grouse hawking is. I didn't get a chance to go hawking with the austringers. I heard thay had a blast catching rabbits with passage Goshawks. The longwingers on the other hand had a hard time getting their falcons flown due to the lack of sage grouse.
