apparently they are one of the most intelligent birds around
(they know not to step over the line of the hard shoulder)
anyone keep/fly them?

i use to have a neighbour that kept a magpie...it use to fly to teh fist & stay in the house with her...it wasnt scared of people what so ever..... i watched a group of local wild magpies kill it last year.

I used to have a Jackdaw as a kid. Climbed a tree and took him out of the nest (tut....tut)
'Jack' would fly free and come in to roost in our shed in the evening. Used to let him out in the morning and he'd follow me to school and when I left school sometimes he would be waiting for me.
He eventually returned to the wild. Best moment was when he used to hang around with the local Jackdaws and I could call him and he'd peel off and fly to my fist
Great birds.

Here you go.

A very young Sighthound and his fledgling Jackdaw.
Note the fashion wellies and the regulation cardigan that my gran always seemed to knit for me.
As I said he eventually reverted to the wild but not before he developed the stunning adult plumage, steel grey head etc.
Memories!

this year i'm going to scoop up a crow if i see one thats fallen out of the nest. My aviary is empty :(, so i can tame it. Also the farmer has a fenn trap that needs a crow to start it going.

Any tips?

i love corvids they have such a character. my mate has one who is now 18 years old. he just doesnt like my mates's dad and will only go for his shoes. he will either put stuff in there or try and rip them apart. great birds. if i have the opportunity to obtain one i would so very much like to. just not sure how it and kadabra would get on tho.
