Anyone tried these 'winged-lures.
I've just ordered 2 to try with the Saker and Perlin. How do they 'fly' when swung etc. Do the birds like them?

I will still say that in reality, the shape of the lure makes no differece whatsoever to the bird. It's visual accuity is such that even it's pea size brain can distinguish that it is a few pieces of leather. Same principle of making dogs chew toys look like items we can associate with......dog treats shaped like bacon?....Please  ....My dog also eats cat sh*t out of the litter box on occation too.....What a discerning aficionado that dog is huh?
With those lures shown above, I would say that the main point on it is the fact that it rotates when swung and therfore attract the attention of the falcon quicker and the black and white alternating colors only amplify it's visual signature.
lol what a joke buying a lure just co it looks the part ! honestly this is what i hate about falconry suplyers , eny fool can make a lure and a lot of other falconry gear , honestly dont be foold buy by gimmicks if you have bought a bop then you should be trying to make your own aquipment ! the only thing i would buy is a glove ,cos ive havent got the time tomake one or should i say patence , and by the way them bird shape lures look stupid and you must be real stupid to buy one lol .......

bit confused about what you said jay...don't you attach wings to your lures?
a pair of wings tied to a leather pad, whats wrong with that?
nope theres no need to ! why do you think you need to atach wings to a lure ???......

Sorry Jay, I disagree; Ok, they might be a bit 'gimmicky' but variety is the key. I use standard lures, wing lures etc. and change them over regularly, the more different lures they fly to, must stop boredom, help to keep them interested etc.
My original question was has any one used them and to what effect. :D

Why do you think you don't need to?
Jay, you may find that wings on a lure don't do it for you? You may find that one with leather wings don't do it for you either. It is just your opinion and others will have a different view and disagree. Is it necessary to stir things up and call the poster stupid because he may have brought one? Weasel put a good case forward but their always seems to be a post added that has to stir it up. I just wonder why you found the need to write it?

Jay, I do make my own equipment; hoods, lures , as well as all the usual standard parts.
I think Bash will also verify this.

At the end of the day it's horse for course. I have used wibngs tied back to back for 30 years , but the last 210 years or so since I have been kite flying I have reverted back to using a leather lure. the falcons are highly motivated towards this as they always were to wings but believe me however deft you are with a lure they will not stoop with the same commitment as if they are tooping at their chosen quarry
all the best
J
thats the point SCREAMING JAY , .................
