Whats happened to my owl !

Hello all if anyones knows anything about african spotted owls ,please can you advise me .
Whats happened is ive had him for 9 months ,ive trained him to fly to the fist and all that stuff ,he became quite aggressive and was hard to handle ,but in the last few weeks he,s started to hoot and lie on his front and make strange noises .
He,s become more placid and easier to handle ,if i hoot he goes in to some kind of mating call ,
Is he or she maturing or does it just fancy me ?

Family is doing great guys ,just that me owls changed dramastically ?
Me reds going in for his moult at the moment lads .
As for me im buying a club soon lol ill end up like dirty den ,ha ha

Our Boobook owl started doing the same the last few nights (except the lying down bit). She's hooting all night. She's about the same age too (~9 mths). And she's scratching at her 'nest' box.

I had assumed it's a teenage tantrum?

All i can put it down to in my own thoughts is its getting into maturity .
I was thinking of getting another owl and trying to m8 ! but ive read that if you get it from 4 weeks old and hand reared it wouldnt work ?

Our owls here are doing the same... But they're older then that. It can be something to do with breeding season... But I'm not sure if a 9 month old owl will be ready to breed...
