Hello mike

Thanks for reply. Thats music to my ears. I would guess the 50/50 is quicker off the mark than a harris ?

Is it a male or female ?

I ve got a one year old 5/8 male.

Does yours take feather as well ?

Was it difficult to enter onto rabbit ?

Many thanks

Richard

Hi richard,
He takes feather as well, he has had duck, pheasent and one heorin in flight. He is 5 years of age now but for the first to years i flown him on tip work and he took seagle and crow which he is very good on. When he was 3 i was out and he chased a hare but lukily the hare went under a farm trailer which had no wheels on. I was glad of this because the hare was very big, after that he just started on rabbits. One of the best kills i had we was on the tip and he swooped down and got a massive rat, one of the begist i have ever seen. That was one hell of a fight. I have also got a 3/4 Gyr/saker but he wont have anything to do with fur. Sometimes i take them up to portmadog which i dont think is far away from you, i have only started posting because they said you had to other wise they would delete you from the system, i usually just like reading them all and looking at the pictures. When i work out how to do pictures i will post them showing my birds on kills. ... Nice pictures falcon boy

Very nice picture. Nicely colour co ordinated too.

Were both of the parents dark birds ?
How do you work the dog with the falcon ? I dont have a dog, would i be at much of a disadvantage flying at rabbits without one ?

Any more pictures would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Regards , Rich

The dog is there just to find quarry & keep it moving
Some patches of land i use are vast & to flush a hare or rabbit is almost impossible
especially hawk wise hares.
you would need to stand on it to flush it.
so having the dog quartering in front of me by a few hundred yards works nicely.
Longest slips i have had with a Falcon on hares is about 700yards.
this tends to be in places where hares are wild as & flush as soon as you pull up in the car.
In areas where there is lots of cover a Hare will often squat in a hedgerow
And the saker will just Verticle straight in & bind
A falcon Binding to a Healthy hare can be a mess

Rabbits are far better than hares fun wise
Rat hunting between scraps of cover can be a good laugh with the dogs working for a flush below

You will not be at a disadvantage not having a dog, it will just mean you might have a little more leg work to do

colour co-ordination wise.. i got a White thats 2 weeks younger to fly also this year
