I cn put a ferug in there, and carry that around - i'm only 14 lol! with wooden ones, I get someone to help as i cudnt go far, never mind sling it in the back of my car lol.

I got the one in the pic, handle on top fell off within a week, door fatseners then fell off a week later.
The door has since warped with warm water and has gaps at the top and the bottom and both the hinges were fastened on with pop rivet's, you guessed it? they arent any more.
In a word= ****
I now use several box's from Falcon Fabrications, tough plastic, light tight, great fastenings and a rubber coated internal perch, positioned for a change perfectly!
In a word= Superb!

Made mine similar an put holes at the top like that. couldnt understand why he jumped around, little perisher was watching the view. Had to turn it upside down, so i put in a false floor with perch attached. This is so i can slide it out to clean and couple of times I have removed the perch and fed him lump of his rabbit or pheasant kill, to keep him happy while I flew a second bird. This meant that he could eat comfy on the floor. Also makes it good for collecting young birds that havnt travelled before. Just shove a square of astro or carpet on the floor then.

Nice one m8 thanks
sean as a newcomer,i would advise, make your own,i made mine from a design by the coulsons in america, they have a site somewhere but i cant remember the address, put hawk box into you'r search and you might find it,or ask for dimentions off the experienced guy's,i was absolutely buzzing on my build up to my first bird and made everything that could be made myself.

They're **** mate... a friend has one and it's always falling over during transport, he has to wedge it in with things for safeties sake. If you want a wooden one i can build one for you if you like.

would also like to add i have had dealings with the guy from raptor box..... all the gear, no idea...... was taking to him about making a custom box for birds/ferrets and dog etc for back of my truck..... was willing to pay top dollar too, all i got was the run around from him, even tried to talk to him 5 times at the chetwynd fair, he was insistent he wanted to do it but kept avoiding me... if the guy didn't want to do it or couldn't all he had to do was say... *****. falcon fabrications is ur better bet mate. or make a wooden one.

Here's the answer, the sides are plastic you can button n unbutton for cleaning. The rest is zippaway for easy cleaning access. Light as an African pygmy falcon but holds eagles if you want. Easy to wedge cuz ALL boxes of any size are gonna fall over. The button plastic walls come all the way down on the new models. Mate in Japan makes em.

thats differant.?

From another world. The left/right zippers zip all the way back to leave the button walls, which when unbuttoned leaves nothing but the hollow aluminum gurders n perch. No aspergillus from this box. lots of breathing room. The bottom also has the hard plastic, so it's bottom heavy, (relying partly on the weight of the hawk to keep it so. Looks like it'd teeter, but it doesn't. You could actually make it yourself with blue plastic sheeting and some aluminum.

That is very similar to a travel box I made about 2 1/2 years ago for my FHH from Hypalon (black). I designed it so I could use it as both a cadge and a travel box. I didnt use a frame work for the base like that one, but used a lightweight HDPE sheet/box configuration instead. The only problem I had was the ventilation for condensation. By the time I had put enough gromets in at low and high level, there was too much light getting in. I might have some photos somewhere. Ill try and dig them out.

Exactly. If you get within a metre of the box, the hawk starts to get restless.

I always made them out of a cardboard box. Heinz Meng has a good design in Webster and Beebe's book. Some guys get carried away with making giant hoods. Diamond plated alumimum with electric exhaust fans, interior lighting and who knows what else. Cardbord gets dirty... throw it away and make another one in 10 mins.
